So, tomorrow I go for the Lap-Band seminar in Reston, VA at the hospital. I am borderline 35 BMI, so I have basically allowed myself to eat whatever to try to gain a few before my appointment with PCP on May 7th. Monday is my appointment with the Sleep doctor to get a diagnosis for sleep apnea, which I am pretty sure that I have.

The only one I've told about my interest in the band is my husband. Haven't got up the nerve to tell anyone in my family (and definitely not his) or my friends yet.

Can't wait to be skinny and have shoulders again!!

You might try waring bulky shoes, and heavier clothing for the weigh in. Also try eating a sodium filled meal the night before and drink a lot of water. That might help! Good luck!

Make sure you're WELL over the 35 BMI when you go. Read HERE. Someone said to take a benedryl before the sleep test, have no idea if that helps, but DO make sure you sleep on your back as often as you can (I don't have this, but others say it shows up mostly on your back). Good luck and send me a note if I can help with anything! -BG

I was the same way about keeping the band decision just between my husband, my sister (also has had gastric bypass) and I. I didnt tell ANYONE else till I had everything arranged and downpayment paid. They were not going to talk me out of it!! Most of everyone was very supportive, when they realized that I was doing this with or without their approval. Wouldnt think twice about doing it again - life changing decision!!!!!

I also didn't tell anyone untill the decision was already made. This is something that a lot of people will try to talk you out of since it's considered the "easy way out" or "unnecessary". That's why no one knew about mine untill I'd already decided to do it. I'm getting banded tomorrow and people just found out and some of my family still doesn't know. Keep your head up and let me know how you're doing.

We're a family on here. We're your bandster family. Good luck.
