Three days post op and full of gas

Well here I am 3 days post op and I am still kind of sore, but the worst feeling is the gas. I feel like I have enough gas to lift off the space shuttle. I want to burp, I try to burp, but I just can not burp. Well other than that I am doing ok. I changed my dressings today, and the one incision made for my liver was about 5 inches long with external sutures. The rest of my incisions are only about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch long. I weighed myself and I am down to 285lbs from 300; WOW! Well it is protein shake time. I will keep you posted.

i am 5 days out and the gas definately is less the more I walk. I went to the park with my dog and walked 1.5 miles and feel pretty good. I do not have any sutures at all. My largest incision is about three inches over the port. The rest are about 1/2 inch. As for the burping, my kids are a little bummed as I seemed to be a champion burper in their eyes...you know, the person who can suck in a ton of air into their stomach and entertain others. (sorry, i never said I was mature!) Those days are over, but THAT I can deal with! Good luck! Peggy

I agree the gas does get better. I found after my first BM the gas got a lot better. I'd like to share this.. I had my first week post op visit Thurs and was down 15lbs.. now Sun and down another 5lbs.. Plus my Dr said I can start calculating protein and drop a shake if I'm within my protein requirement.. I'm on soft/mushie foods now and so happy to be eating something solid. I feel hope where I felt hopeless before. Hope this reaches you feeling less gassy and full of hope cause better things are coming!
