Day one - pre-op liquid diet

Well, the pre-op meeting went well. Officially I am weighing 281.2lbs.

I had my last hurrah this past weekend for Mother's Day and didn't quite have what I really wanted but as the french say "C'est la vie".

Today, I am starting the liquid protein diet. Dr. Washington told me to have 5 drinks per day, which is better than the 3 stated in the paperwork. The morning was fine and I am drinking water.

I did have one small black coffee with 1 splenda vs my usual large coffee with half and half and 5 splendas. It went ok.

I am cold though, freezing. Doesn't help that the air conditioning in the building I work in is on super high...ha ha ha...

Anyway, I hope to weigh myself at home and hope to get my measurements tonight and post it tomorrow. I hope to lose at least 20 lbs before the operation on June 9th, though Dr. Washington didn't give me a determination on how much I should be losing between now and then. I just want no complications.

Oh by the way, he is so sweet. I asked if I could go home that same day, since my daughter would really freak out by not being home (she did one time on a business trip) and he changed it to 7:30am vs 2:30pm. :thumbs_up:I am a happy camper!!!

20 lbs before June 9?? Wow, I only have to lose 5 by June 4th and i am afraid I won't even be able to get that off. The pre-op diet is killing me...I am so hungry and craving everything.

:angry: HAD MY SURGERY ON MAY 5TH, AND WENT FOR MY 1ST DR. VISIT TODAY, AFTER SURGERY... LOST 16 LBS. AND IT WAS THE HARDEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE...

IT WILL TEST YOUR STRENGTH AND YOU WILL THINK YOU ARE GOING CRZY!!!

BUT YOU CAN AND WILL GET THRU IT.. IF I

DID IT ANYONE CAN... I EVEN HAVE 2 KIDS TO FEED...

NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SEEING THAT WEIGHT FALL OFF...

BE STRONG AND KNOW YOU ARE NOT ALONE... GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi Insky67:

It's not going to be that difficult on the pre-op diet,

if you keep something in your stomach every two hrs.

I made it o.k. doing that. Keep busy, too. That will

help. Before you know it you can eat again!

Remember to focus on the reason you want

the lap band surgery in the first place...

You can do this!

A quote on experience:

"Life consists in the alternate process of learning

and unlearning, but it is often wiser to unlearn

than to learn." - Bulwer

I'm in Day 3 of my liquid diet. My surgery is 5/20....not sure if I'm going to make it. I'm cold and it's 78 here in Nashville. I keep telling myself that nothing tastes as good as being thin.

I'm three days pre-op and today was my first day of clear, sugar-free liquids as my pre-op diet. I was amazed at how cold I was today in my office ( I'm usually dying of heat no matter what the temperature), but I see that it's pretty common when we have to severely cut back! :) Good luck everyone, stay the beautiful STRONG people you are, and before we know it, we'll be on the other side!!

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️
