Eating

blogs/blog-0365893001357138470.jpgHi, I am 6 weeks post op and have lost about 50 pounds. The problem is that nothing stays down. I eat very little and only what I am supposed to eat, yet it lays until it comes up. I am talking about having a small round Melba toast with a tiny bit of tuna and after 1 I am full. Sometimes it does stay down but most of the time something comes up. My dr said I could have a lot of scar tissue and he will give me an endoscopy in a week or 2.

Did anyone have this problem?

Thanks

Judy

I know every dr had different guidelines but usually bread and pasta is a big N-O until 6 months post-op. My gut tells me the bread has a lot to do with your sickness :(

Just my opinion. Sorry you're going through this

I can't keep any solids down either. If I eat anything it comes back. I'm drinking lots of Unjury strawberry sorbet and and isopure; and it takes me all day to get it in. I can handle broth too.

I understand how you are feeling & hope it gets better for you soon :)

I tried tuna, but like chicken and eggs, my sleeve just doesn't like the texture (chewed until disolved, practically, and still no!). My dr. recommends avoiding all breads (crackers included) until 1 year post-op. He said "avoid", he didn't say I couldn't have them. He said it would slow my loss and reintroduce my "white flour craving" which I've worked so hard to get that monkey off my back since August! I did try some stale (they were soft, I figured that would be better!) Special K crackers (2 or 3). I felt like I ate a brick. Not worth it. I would avoid the crackers and tuna for a while. If you get that over-full feeling after only a tiny amount of it, I would avoid that food for a while. I know it's hard. Some days I'm ok with cottage cheese and yogurt but other days I wish I could eat an egg and some chicken. Forget salad -- I drool over the thought of a crisp, fresh salad they way I used to drool over pie a la' mode!

I'm at 7 weeks out and still on soft proteins....no breads, salads, pasta, potatoes, etc. Eggs still cause me problems. Can eat small amounts of Wendy's chili, just had some spaghetti sauce with 93% lean ground sirloin. Doing ok with it so far.
