Trouble With Protein

I am now 9 days post op VSG, I was cleared by my physician to move to a full liquid diet yesterday, all I have been able to eat in 24 hours is 1 packet of Cream of wheat, 2 atkins protein shakes and about 1 oz of yougurt.

I also started walking and walked 1 1/2 miles today without needing to rest.

I have lost 17 lbs which really makes me happy but i feel I need more protein and do not know how to get it. I am so full.

Any suggestions?

Protein is not a big concern right now, getting your fluids in is. I use to drink some of the protein shake, and put the rest in the refrigerator. I gradually increased it.

Try adding unflavored protein powder to anything you are eating whether it be broth during your liquid phase or soups, etc. during and after your pureed phase. I am only able to eat about 4oz per meal and I'm in the pureed stage so I'm trying to eat soups that have meat, cheese, and beans (chicken chili, broccoli cheddar, etc.) as well as cottage cheese and skim milk which also has protein. I am probably not getting it all in (I'm only 3 days out) but I am sure trying to make sure everything I put into my body is loaded with protein. Good luck!
