Omg! June 18Th!

Yesterday, I received a call from my Doctor's office with a date for my surgery. It's a good month before I thought I would be able to have it done. The date is June 18th. As of last night I'm on a liver shrinking diet. The diet sucks. Would it really be so bad if I just put a pork chop in my mouth and sucked on it? Or if I puree mashed potatoes and gravy (I could even add protein powder!)

I just keep repeating my mantra "Please God help me to be strong I really want this to work. I feel like this is my last chance to get back to normal. It's been such a long time since I took walks for pleasure, shopped in a department store, or fit in any chair. I just keep remembering that this liquid diet is the beginning of a new life and the end of my old frustratingly exhausting life. At least I can have coffee until the surgery! And if I smack someone I think a jury of my peers will understand.

I'm on the 18th too! And yes, the pre-op diet sucks, but just imagine what it is leading to....Since getting my surgery date and then strting the shakes, I've dropped 13 pounds, and I can feel the difference in energy and the way I walk just from that! Imagine how fun life will be once we drop some serious weight! You can do this!

I am the 11th of June (monday)and had to do my pre-op for ten days. I haven't had too bad a time on the pre-op. I have used chicken broth a lot with Unjury chicken soup during protien drink times. Unjury tastes good - haven't tried the chocolate or vanilla I got yet. Chike strawberry protein powder was good in V8 diet splash which I am allowed. Good luck with the diet. Staying extra hydrated seems to help me. I lost 14# so far.

I am now 5 week post op. I would recommend sticking to the pre op diet as best as you can. I followed all of docs rules and it really helped me heal after surgery. I lost 20 pounds before surgery by following diet and working out. After the surgery I was feeling pretty good about three days later. Doc said it was because I prepared my body for the change. It got my body and mind set. Good luck and congratulations. The surgery has changed my life.

I'm June 19th. Nervous as anything but also so excited for this new start. I feel so lucky that I only have to do the pre-op liquid diet for 5 days. So I start mine next thursday. Be strong, you can do it. I'll be thinking about you!
