After 5 Months Of Complications My Twisted Stricture Is Fixed! I Feel Sooo Blessed Not To Be Sick Anymore!

Happylife

WOW!! It has been a looong road! I Was sleeved August 10 and didn't eat again until soft mushies Christmas Eve! I have had feeding tubes, stent operations, 6 dialations and let me tell ya, pnemonia, painful ear infections, thrush and sooo much awfulness. Sliming and foaming and sick. The doctors where sooo kind and willing to try anything to fix me... A twisted stricture doesnt happen all the time. On Dec 8 th they performed a strictureplasy. And I really feel like I have my life back again. I still have a J tube that comes out of my side and it hurts. But they will remove the bolsters soon (holds the intestine up) and then maybe another couple of weeks and the tube will be gone too! I am so happy that I am a regular sleeve patient now and I love my working sleeve, I love eating smaller portions. The doctor didnt charge for countless specialized care either. I had all three of their direct numbers. Did I mention that I am so happy to have a normal sleeve? Lol

Oh my! I had no idea you were having all these problems! I am so sorry! Glad to hear you are doing better!!

I was sleeved August 8th and an abscess and leak was discovered in October. I have had a J tube since then. Just got the ok to start liquids yesterday as my leak is gone! I have a drain too. I think the tubes are so uncomfortable! Ugh! But like you, I am finally starting to feel more normal! Even the time before my leak I had no energy and felt yucky so it is amazing to me now how much better I feel!

Hi, this may be a silly question but is there any idea how leaks actually happen. My surgery was Dec. 30th and I passed the leak test, but I am still scared to death of a leak. Is there anything you can do to keep from getting them? How do you know that you have one?

I don't understand the J tube thing either.

I am glad you are both better, I appreciate any help on these.

J tube is the feeding tube that goes in to your jejunum/intestine. You can help prevent leaks by following your program rules but even that can't completely guarantee no leak. Mine was probably a missed staple. It stayed closed from swelling and eventually when the swelling went down it opened. A leak test before leaving the hospital won't show that, it takes several weeks for the swelling to go down. Be hyper aware of your body and anything that doesn't feel right, that's my advice!

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
