Day 11 Post-op

I currently think I might be dying a little... ok... not really but it feels like it. I made a mistake and decided to try about a teaspoonful of finely chopped up, well moisturized chicken salad. Do not do this on day 11. It kind of feels like a bomb went off in my new stomach. I am making every effort not to throw it up.

I am supposed to be on full liquids until day 14 after surgery. I was thinking I was feeling ok and needed some protein, since I havn't been getting it in with shakes. Well that was a bust. I guess I am going to have to start forcing myself to drink some sort of shake because I am not getting protein, and I obviously can't eat anything.

At this point I feel like I will never eat again. Hmmm... perhaps its too late to rethink this process?

i was told no boost or or ensure cause its high in calories. do you have aanywhere that sells ideal protein its a diet company that makes soup and drinks that are low carb low fat and high protein about 15 to 20 gm of protein per soup. also walmart has a protein shot that has 39g of protein it is kind of like a sour fruit punch but you could mix it with crystal light it is about 2 oz so it isnt that hard to get down. i couldnt do proetin shakes i dont like the texture or taste but anyway visalus is a good shake if you can it also has all your vitamins in it.

I use the shot protein and it works very well, and it comes in a ton of flavors. these are the ones I use: Super Protein Shot 26gm protein, New Whey liquid protein 42gm, and Profect protein supplement 25gm.

They are a a bit sour but a lot easier to go down, flavors make a difference my favorites are blue raspberry, fruit punch, and passion fruit.

ensure has a dietbetic counter part with protein no sure of the name.

OMG! I've never heard of a shot of protein, but I kind of think it is genius! Sounds so much easier than a shake! Thanks guys!

I have been told by other posters that the protein shots Char mentioned should not be taken because they contain collagen. I have only been able to find one company that sells protein shots made for bariatric patients with 42gm per serving.

I think it only comes in a few choices, but I figured I could put the Lemon-Lime or Watermelon in a Crystal Light Lemonade.

Protein Bullet Shot

Can be found at:

but may also be found at other supplement stores

Hope that helps. I'm going to order some soon.
