Questions About The Fills?

Court12

I am 3 days out of surgery and I feel great! The second day was tough but today is a great day of me, I am excited to start my new journey, but I do have one concern that I didnt realize until I started reading some of the other blogs. Some people are saying that the fills make them feel horrible, and I just wanted to know what I should expect when I get my first fill. Thanks so much =)

"Fills" make them feel horrible, how?

Do you mean the actual act of getting the fill - a needle through the skin into the port?

Or do you mean once they have gotten filled, things can happen and they feel terrible.

I think it depends on the doctor and how agressive they are with their fill amounts. My doctor took it slow and easy. I had my surgery on July 26th and didn't feel restriction until November. I have never felt overfilled and horrible after a fill and I think thats why.

My first fill was awful, but it was awful because I spazzed out! I freaked out about the needle and "Bandolina Jolie" reacted to my stress and everything tightened up and they had to remove the fluid. The next time I put all my trust in the nurse, never felt a thing, got filled & left happy! It only took 2 more fills to hit my sweet spot & I have been there ever since. There is absolutely no pain, and as long as they take the filling slow, no throwing up or feeling bad. Good luck to you & keep us posted!

Thanks so much, I am alittle nervous about the needles too! I dunno why since I have been stuck more times during and right after surgery then I have in my life so I should be used to it by now lol, I kinda of wish I knew where my port was, I feel like that is somthing I should know lol. Ill remember to just close my eyes and not stress =)

i had a really good experience with my first fill despite that it was a VERY aggressive fill! it's probably different for everyone, but just try to relax and don't look at what they're doing! :) i am a huge baby when it comes to needles, so i didn't even look around the room! i knew where i had to lay, so i got there, closed my eyes and let my doctor do his thing and i didn't open my eyes until i had to sit up and put my shoes back on, again keeping my eyes averted so that i didn't accidentally see anything that might have been lying around, like big needles or something! before he put the needle in, he felt on my belly and told me where my port was- he had told me after surgery as well. i didn't get a numbing shot and i couldn't believe how painless the stick was. and the whole thing goes really fast!

after my fill, i could tell exactly where my band is- it did feel tight in that spot. i also felt a bit of pressure in my chest/stomach area, but it went away in a couple of hours- i never felt nausea. i also had no trouble eating or drinking later that day and have not felt uncomfortable since then.

one thing to think about with the fills is that yours may be really different compared to what others talk about- if your stomach has more/less fat around it, then your doctor will probably do it according to that. my first fill was 10ccs. i can still eat pasta, rice and meat with zero issues. i don't fill hungry a lot though and it's easy to stop after my 1/2 cup.

good luck and keep your eyes closed! ;)

I had no problem either, although I think I wasn't filled enough. I still am hungry and can consume full portions. I never really feel full after eating. I just am so afraid to throw up I stop. My next fill is Tuesday and I am going to tell him to "fill er up" I have been eating as I should watching the carbs but I guess the amounts of food is taking precedence since I haven't lost any wait after 3 weeks. I get frustrated and a little depressed. Hopefully the next fill will do the trick.
