Little Green Band

I went this morning for my pre-surgery work up and met with a NP. My surgery is scheduled for 6:45 AM Monday October 3. I have to be to the hospital by 6AM and should be out of there by noon. Worries me a little about the pain medication. I have asked several times about when I would get my prescription for it. I had read in other places that some groups have you pick it up at this appointment so that you don't have to deal with filling it after the surgery. The nurse assured me that my pain would be taken care of.

Tomorrow I go to my own doctor to be cleared by him. I will need to pick up my out of work slip from him and will be out for a month. Trying to get my ducks all in a row at work so that my desk is clear before I head out on Friday. I have an extended leave form that I will need to fill out when I get back from the doctors and I will need to hand the slip in.

I need to check the schedule and I am hoping for a support group meeting this Thursday.

I have my Green hospital ID band on now, and cannot take it off till after surgery. One more day closer to my surgery.

Go with the flow...be calm and embrace this..

you can DO this..

I was off work 10 days, and really it was more than plenty..

I ended up with a hiatal hernia and had to stay over night..

I had planned on out by 1pm also..so please..go with the flow..

Nothing is written in stone, it's healthcare..

you CAN do this..

My doctor prescribed liquid vicodin, I used it a few days ..and then not again..

I was also prescribed liquid vicodin and I think I maybe used it for the first 3 or 4 days and that is about it. When I got to the hospital the day of the surgery the surgeon gave me the script which I turned over to my husband and said "Here is what you can do while I am in surgery". Most hospitals have an on-site pharmacy so you should be able to fill it right there. They will make sure you have what you need and you also need to be your best advocate by insisting that you have all you need before you leave.

Pain was not that bad, most of the pain is from gas. I had more nausea than pain and Gas-x and Pherergan and Zoforan were my best friends, I took very little of the pain medication. Good luck and keep us posted.

I went home with no pain meds! Only pain I had was if I moved too fast or the wrong way. I walked alot right after surgery like the Dr. advised me to do.

i AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU. I know this has been a long road.

PAIN, well, I only too the pain meds the day off and day after, then switched to liquid tylenol which I took the second day after surgery. I dont know which was worse, the pain or the meds...I think the meds...they tasted A-W-F-U-L. yuk.

I had my surgery on Friday at 0900, was out at 0940 and released from hospital at 1030. Home by 1135. Went back to work on Monday.

Keep positive, and you will do wonderful.

Good luck.

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
