11 hours out of surgery...

Well guys, here it is 1am (ca time) and i am wide awake. I am 11 hours out of surgery and so far so good. I do have a little pressure aroung my entire abdomen but no pain (is this the gas that everyone mentioned)? My diet is probably not good cause i was told to eat a light breakfast the day before my surg and nothing else till surg.

So I break down what i ate in the past 3 days (day 3 is as we speak 1:30am)

tues: peanut butter and jelly sandwich at 9am, gatorade thought out the day

weds: nothing am, surg at 1pm, couple sips of water and ice chips, main meal 1/2 cup of chicken soup broth only

thurs : 1 am, 1/2 on ministrone soup broth only.

So far so good and the only discomfort is in my chest and im guessing that that is from when they intubated me.

came home from the hospital and took a quick shower to wash of the old blood and to clean it up. wiped the incisions with hydrogen peroxide and left open to air out.

Havent really had to take any pain meds but def taking the meds for nausea and vomitting just in case..

Here is a funny storry: as women we are always trying to hold in our tummies in whereever we are and i cannot for the life of me at this point "suck it in" and another funny point... my tummy is making these strange noises...! is this getting me ready for the gas???

Anywho, off to bed to try and catch some sleep. Have a great day yall.

Unsure78 (maybe time to change my header) Suggestions

Well this is day 2 from surg and I'm experiencing chest pain and need to cough. Have a lot of pressure in the abdomen but very tolerable.

Should be drinking more but have NO appetite.

Just forced myself 1/2 cup chicken soup.

I am day one post op. Came home last night after surgery. Hurt more this morning-abdomenal pressure. Also shoulders hurt from the CO2 in my abdomen. But not hungry and out of bed. Drinking pedialyte.

Day 3 from surg. No gas pain and swelling in my belly is going down. I am able to sleep in my side. Right side more tender than left side. Not really much of an appetite. All I had yesterday was a cup of cream of chicken soup and water. Although when I see commercials for pizza I have to change the channel

Starting weight 9/12 259 and now 9/16 251 down 8lbs. Thought it would be more seeing as to how I'm not eating much...

One day at a time...All I have to say is that I feel good. The pain (if any) is very minimal. Have not had to use any pain peds

Go on 15-20 min walks about 3 times a day..

All in all doing good.

Wish all a wonderful journey!

I had my surger 4 weeks ago to, and it sounds to me that you are having the same experiences I did. I did not feel gas until day 4, and then it hit me in the left shoulder...oooooohhhhhhh, but some pain meds and it went away.

Best advice I can give you is, keep doing what your dr sez.

good luck and congrats

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️
