another hurdle

Well... I thought I saw the finish line, thought after my meeting with the nutritionist i'd be good to go. But no, seems that my blood results were in and boy, were they NOT good. my Vitamin D was less than 7 what ever that means, when it should be in the 20s  and I have very low vitamin B12. Soooo off to the endochrinologist. Who wants to do a sonogram since there is a history of throat nodules in my family. So i must jump that hoop on Sat, then she wants me to wait another month for a follow up appointment! Another freakin month?! I was hoping to be a May bandster atleast. But she's dashing that hope. Says she won't clear me till she knows, and I guess I understand that but. I just needed to vent. Feeling really frustrated right now. :(

Wow, your vitamin D is low. Mine was a 7 but that was AFTER surgery. I took 50,000IU of Vitamin D a week for 12 weeks, it was a prescription. I now take 5000IU a day for maintenance of an over the counter Vitamin D. It's best to get that under control early on because weight loss can cause it go low again. I know it frustrating but really it is better to get all of that taken care of before surgery. You may have more of the same problems after surgery and if it wasn't taken care of prior then it would be in the severe category and cause major health problems.

My low Vitamin D causes joint pain, fatigue and depression. Now that I have been on the maintenance I feel much better. It will all work out. Keep the faith!

I too was extremely low on Vit. D and B12 defficient. That sure explains the increased pain fatigue and depression I guess. I thought it was my fibromyalgia acting up. I take supplements now and just had blood work drawn yesterday so I hope it has improved. My wt. loss has been very slow this month which is very depressing. I hope you will improve with supplements as well. I know how frustrated you must feel right now not knowing whats up. Good luck to you and take care. Keep us posted. :)

I just want to say keep hope alive. I too am waiting. Look at it in a positive way, you can get the things that might hinder your weightloss goals or slow your progression out of the way now and when you do get banded it will be full force ahead toward your goal. I had to get an EGD on Monday. My Gastroenterologist says all is well but I still have to wait for the biopsy results and gastro clearence to get a surgery date. Keep looking up. We will be on our way soon.:D

@anglov- Thanks so much for your advice... wow. I didn't realize it was so low, and didn't really realize the importance of vitamins till I am literally feeling run down. Don't even have the energy to go out and hit the Y for swimming or working out. I've been trying to get it together but this year, I've been feeling really out of it sleepy all the time and thought it was my weight getting the best of me, good to see it wasn't! I'm going to see my PCP tomorrow.

@Roseyposey- I constantly wondered if I had fibromyalgia, but never brought it up to my doc, just did my wondering and research and just attributed how i was feeling to my weight. But now I see it's a much bigger problem. THanks a lot for your input and good luck in your loss as well. :)

@ Bird- I am definitely going to try keeping my eye on the prize, stay focused and keep looking ahead. And keep me posted on you and your results. Good luck to you too... you're very close. It's almost within our grasp! Thanks also for your kind words! :)

you were so right, finally made it in to my PCP and he gave me a shot and a prescrip for the vit D, under the tongue for 30 sec then swallow. After the shot, it took a few but I instantly perked up. Felt like i had a red bull!

chin UP!! you will get there. Its better to take care of this problem now Since after surgery our bodies go through some shack and the blood work gets really wacky. I have been banded for almost 1 1/2 year and i still have low Vit D and Calcium...not to mention the huge hair loss that i am still recovering from.

I take a one a day Vit pluss, chewable calcium and Vit D. It helps with enery to chase my 3 young kids.

Good luck
