Banded 4 Days Ago!!

Well, I did it!! I was banded on Wednesday. Surgery was a breeze; it was out-patient, so I was only there for about 4 hours. I am still on the liquid diet, but have had no difficulty keeping things down, and have zero appetite, which is awesome!!

My only complaint would be the pain on the left side of my abdomen. I am assuming that is where they sewed the port into the stomach muscle. It is still extremely painful to sit

down or stand up. I have been through childbirth and had my gall-bladder removed a few years back, and I didn't need any pain meds after leaving the hospital. This is different though. At times, it feels like my ab muscles are being torn in half. I am not a drug person at all, but this time, I'm taking them!! Just wondering if anyone else felt this way, and how long it will last??

Other than that, I am down 15 pounds since starting the two week pre-op diet . .. yay me!! The most difficult thing is getting enough calories in each day (never thought I'd say that!) To all of my new friends who were banded this week, congratulations!! We're on our way!! :D

Congrats on being a Bandster AND 15 pounds down!!!

I hate pain pills as well and took what the dr gave me while I was told they were anti-inflamatories (either way they made the pain go away so I was happy). I couldnt stand having to ask for help getting up and down from my couch and my recliner wasnt the easiest to sleep in until after Day 4 so sleeping in bed still wasnt fun. I described the feeling to hubby as a bee sting in my lower abdominal area and followed by a burn for minutes later lingering. Its diffently nothing easy but it will be worth it. Sounds like you have good spirits in your recovery and that will help tons in your healing process. Wishing you the best :D

Ravendays, your bee sting description with and escalating burn is exactly right!! Thanks, now I know I'm normal (well sort of :-) I think asking for help to hoist me off the couch has to have been one of the most humbling parts of this experience.

Congratulations you did it! Hope you are feeling better each day. The first wk. was rough for me. But then it gets easier. The pain becomes much less. Just try to keep walking if you can. It really does help. I know what you mean about trying to eat and get everything in that you are supposed to. It just seems impossible sometimes. And the vitamins. And all that water. Seems like there is not enought hrs. in the day to do all this huh? ha ha. Good luck on your journey. Keep posting. Take care. :)

hello... I am post op 7 days today. I had only one incision (through my navel).... I started feeling pretty good and then on day five i started getting these painful burning sensations above my navel and slightly to the left about two to three inches up... its horrible.... i cant walk without pain, i cant sit up without a great deal of maneuvering and pain. I went to the er because it seemed unnatural for this to start after i started feeling better. I had the whole work up... cat scan with contrast and everything... my white blood cell count was up but not unusually high for someone whom is newly post op... i went back eight hours later and it was almost at a normal level just slightly elevated... so physically they cant find anything wrong. Only suggestion by my dr is nerve damage... iim playing the waiting game for the next few days.... i hope you are feeling much better
