Nerves are setting in....

So.... I am less than two weeks away from being "banded" and I am starting to get nervous. It is pretty much all I think about. I am supported by a wonderful husband, but my mom and sister have more criticism of my choice than support. I know this is what I want to do (and will do!) but I am so tired of feeling like I have to rationalize it to others. Ugh. I am relly worried about my other family members (that are in the dark) are going to think at Christmas when I can barely eat anything. This is a provate thing for me and I want to keep it that way until I am successful. I hate being fat and I cannot wait any longer to have the Lap Band. I just wish wasn't so nervous. Make me feel better, okay? :)

Stay on the + side it's for the good. I am in the same boat. I get banded on the 14th of Dec. and I can't wait. Family is going to down you eather way it goes if your fat they got something to say if you loose they have something to say, so you need to do what's best for you. Lets stay in touch with one another I don't know about you but I am looking forward to all the support I can get. This is going to be life changing. I had a aunt tell me the other day that when I loose the weight that I was going to look like an old sagging bag! Then 2 days later she asked me for the 2 week pre op fast diet so that she can do it with me. LOL, so it's interesting, people don't like to see others succeed sometimes. Just stay focused and do what you need to do. I live with my mom. She was banded 3 years ago, if was the best thing that has happend to her. She was a size 22/24 now she is a 8. She will be my motavation partner, she is very supportive. Anyway good luck and can't wait to see you once the pounds shed! :)

Nothing to be nervous about. I was banded 6 weeks ago. I wok up feeling tired and some soreness but thats all. I spent the night in the hospital and didnt need any pain meds. I was sore trying to get out of the bed and take my IV tower into the bathroom every 30 minutes. Thats the worst part.

The soreness went away in about 5 days. I did have some gas pain in my shoulder. Not that big of a deal. That, too, takes a few days to pass. Since then I have gained 5 lbs. I had a fill today so hopefully I will start losing weight. I had no problems whatsoever , so I was able to eat almost like I did before.

You will do fine. Truly, its a simple proceedure. Its just not worth getting nervous about. Really

I just got my band last Friday -- everything went well -- went home by noon and had the same issues with gas and soreness, but got up and walked a bit to help with that -- day after was the worst, but still not bad -- gas pains and soreness -- walking really helped with the gas and today I'm back at work -- the liquid diet is a challenge but I'm determined to make it through the first couple of weeks and on to mushy foods. You need to pick and choose who you tell - only the closest people who love you unconditionally and will be supportive because I agree I get sick of the attitude that "if we just tried we could lose the weight" yeah, right. Keep in touch here, I've only started reading and chatting as I just discovered this site yesterday! You may be in having the surgery today -- good luck, you'll do great!

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
