I had my surgery Tuesday the 12th. I am paying out of pocket so I didnt use any pain meds and refused the meds they wanted to give me in the hospital. Really, I felt ok. My pain level was about a 4 and that was mostly gas. I tried walking around the unit but that did not help. My incision sites are sore and I still have slight gas pains. I kinda feel hungry which I didnt expect. Im on full fluids so I just had a cup of greek yogurt. Seems like everything went well and it was a fairly easy surgery and recovery. On a comical note, the hospital put me in a room with a lady who had lap band 6 months ago. She ended up being very sick with it so they took it out and now she has a bad infection. She was a very nice lady and we had a chuckle about her being my roommate but I would have preferred not to hear that story the day of my surgery.

How long does it take for the soreness to go away? How long will I have these hunger pains? Is it safe to be walking outside 2 days after surgery?

They told me to start walking as soon as the surgery was done...I think you will be fine being two days out...I was banded on the 6th...I feel totally fine now..as soon as the staples were removed the soreness subsided. I am on full liquids for 20 days...my dr is really strict! You were actually allowed to have a greek yogurt? Amazing how dr's differ! Hang in there!

I was banded on the 11th and I am still feeling pain in my tummy. However, I am not hungry. Surprisingly I haven't been hungry at all, keeping up with the amount of liquids that my doctor wants me to have has been really tough for me. My doctor is also allowing me full liquids like yogurt, but I an only eat about 1/2 cup or I am overly full. I ordered a product called Beneprotein, it's made by Nestle. It was recommended by my doctor because you can put in in anything and there are zero carbs (most other products are really high carbs and can actually make you gain weight)and it fills you up. So maybe try that in your chicken broth, soups, yogurt, and juices. Good luck! I'm on this journey with you!

Thanks guys. My doc wanted me on full liquids 2 days after surgery. I have been eating cream soups, yogurt and puddings. Mostly everything I have eaten I have ordered off of bariatricchoice.com....high protein. Im very grumpy; the hunger pains are getting to me. Each day when I get out of bed I feel much better. I have 5 incisions that have disolvable stitches and the only one that hurts is the one he put my port under. Thats still pretty sore. I have 5 more days of this diet then I can move to mushies. So looking forward to that. It does make me wonder why the docs are all so different with basically the same proceedure. Im wondering what the difference between mashed potatoes or mush eggs and greek yogurt would be? I can have the yogurt but not the others. Has anyone tried eating mushies a week after surgery?
