Not Happy

Went to my first nutritionist thing today. not very happy nor positive now. She told me that the doctor wants ppl to be at a bmi of 50 before he does the operation. I would have to lose 100lbs to get to that. I feel that if i can lose 100lbs in 6 months then why the heck do i need the surgery???? Not happy very depressed. Not sure what to do.

Starve myself?? Drink 2 protein shakes then have a small dinner???

So now im down. Was very happy to go to my fist appointment but that was short lived.

Thinking about looking for a different doctor. Not sure what to do . JUst depressed and crying like a baby . I just want this so bad but hell 100lbs.. might as well not get the freaking surgery dang!!!!!

Don't give up! Look up btrieger, he lost right at 100 before surgery and has lost more since. He will be happy to forward a plan he put together to lose the weight. Send him a private message and see what he did. There is an answer, just keep looking.

Don't give up!!! Look for another Dr..... this BMI is crazy either it is too low for the surgery and NOW it can be too high?

Don't give up because you can NEVER give up on YOU!!!! I don't have the band yet and don't know when because I have seen everyone but the Nutritionist........ I know that when I go to my appointment I will pray before going in.

I am going to pray for you as well.... Sometimes strength does not come from inside.... It comes from a greater power and I will pray that the great one touches your spirit and gives you hope!!

the dr office just called and they are wanting me to see the doctor in sept instead of 3 months from now. They were sorry for upsetting me . Told them not Jan's fault ( nutritionist ) just that if i needed to lose b4 the surgery then why get it.

But when i said about dr wanting my bmi at 50 she said no 55 so that was little better. I only have to lose 65 compared to 90 . I can handle that alot better.

Going to see the dr on sept 29th. We are gonna see what exactly he wants me to do.

I do hope i leave there in a better mood then today.

Thanks you 2 for your support. I do believe in God and i am trying to leave it in His hands.

Do not give up.. Seeing another Dr. may be the way to go it would not hurt to see what he or she have to say.. CRY AND GET IT OUT, once you are done crying you will feel better and fight for what you need. ALL THE BEST TO YOU..

My doctor has told me of another surgery to help people lose weight fast so they can qualify for the lap band procedure. I don't remember the name but he said they inflate a balloon in your stomach for one or two weeks then they deflate and remove it. Like I said the idea is to help people lose weight so the lap band surgery is not so dangerous. Maybe you can ask your doctor if he has anything like that. Good Luck!

Are there other doctor's available under your coverage? My surgeon has performed lap band on patients with bmi of more than 55.

It is true that sometimes a person is too overweight to have surgery safely. That may be the reason for the doctor wanting you at a certain BMI. The surgery has some risks anyway and the heavier you are the higher the risks. I know it seems redundant to lose weight so you can have surgery to lose weight. You may need to find another surgeon who can take a better look at your BMI or simply ask the doctor at your next visit why he feels you need to lose weight to have surgery to lose weight? Maybe his explanation will put your mind at ease or make it make sense. Good luck!
