My First "STUCK"!!!! (and I'm so happy!!!)

So just now I had my first "stuck"!!!

- What I thought was 'stuck' before (w/the dinner bread at restaurant) was only an "almost stuck"....

- I slept late so I just now got around to eating (12:30)...b/c of the time, I skipped my breakfast shake and went for my veggies (steamed soft) and chicken (pureed).... I had the exact same thing for dinner last night (4:30) and it was fine.... but today it would NOT go down!!! About my 2nd swallow, I felt incredible pain! …a knot in my throat/chest, the "gurgling", eyes watering, hard to breathe...I had the incredible urge to BURP! like a big "man-like", rude, burp! Deep and Loud! (LOL!) :rolleyes2: ... but it wouldn’t come.

- I walked as quickly as I could to the bathroom (didn’t want to alarm my kids. they don’t know about my LB) I vomited but still couldn’t burp!!! I did not want to vomit again… so I walked around the house w/my hands up, etc.... and now I’m blogging to keep me "distracted"....

- I don’t know why this happened? Maybe I didn’t chew well enough? I was very hungry, so I might have swallowed too fast? I have been chewing, my already mushy food, to liquid form before swallowing...sounds gross but it’s been working...

- I hope this doesnt mean that I gained weight, so my band got tighter??? I say this b/c the last doc that filled me said that i was having so much put in (10.75 by 3rd fill) b/c i didnt have much abdominal/belly fat and people like me have a hard time tightening thier band.

- Anyway...I am still glad  I had this bad experience! This is my first time vomiting! I know that sounds odd, but up until now, I really didn’t feel “banded”! I thought the Doc couldn’t get my band tight enough and this was just not going to work for me... Now it’s official! … now I know: I HAVE RESTRICTION!!! WHOO-HOO!! :w00t:

lol you're last sentence about knowing now you have restriction gave me a chuckle. it really sucks when food gets stuck. but at least you know what to do/not do or eat/not eat because with every restriction, even with every day come changes. one day you can eat just fine and the next day BAM you can't.

crazy how it works out that way but it just does. but i wouldn't change it for the world really. don't forget to chew chew chew or let yourself get tooo hungry between meals. we tend to eat faster when we're hungriest. which causes us to not chew our food well enough. before you know it you'll be running to the restroom again. we want to ultimately avoid throwing up cause that's not good for our band. may be i'm offering info you already know but someone else reading this may not.

wish you all the best with your band!!! ;o)

Laughing because I had the same thoughts a couple days ago -- did the band fall out or something?

NO, it did not. But we start to get used to it and sometimes forget to chew, or take time between bites, and there it is again, the "gentle reminder".

Take care!

You slept late, the majority of people are always tighter in the morning and then loosen up as the day progresses. This is a pretty normal phenomenon. I always test my band to see if I can eat in the morning.. I take a sip of a heavy juice like Orange or Pineapple juice and see how it goes down.. if it's slow going... I do a shake if it goes down easy I do eggs, etc..

Then there's days like today where I tested...made eggs got about 1/2 way through 2 scrambled eggs and my band said.. NOPE not any more.. so now I'm sitting here burping and feeling oh so disgusting... blogging to distract myself as well lol

On the upside being stuck only lasts a few minutes I find that bending over and then stretching back in an arch of the back gets things unstuck pretty quickly but also reduces the pain level.

I use pineapple juice and it will make it either come up or go down instantly (for me). I get the small cans of it. All it takes is a couple of sips and bam I am all cleared up. It fits in my purse in case I am going somewhere and I am not sure what I might be eating. Don't you just love the early days and all this learning..LOL it does get better!! Take care!

Damn, I got stuck for the first time today! That was not pleasant at all, and it's 100% a wake up call. I was in a restaurant and it was all downhill after one bite. I had to wait for the restroom and I thought I was going to pass out. It hard to breathe and i was trying SO hard not to vomit in public. I tried to get sick in the bathroom but to no avail. But, the action of trying to make myself sick made it better. Now I'm petrified to eat anything. Ugh.
