Ok, It has been almost 3 weeks since my surgery. I lost a bit in the first week and a half (about 10 pounds post op), but then pretty much stopped. I keep going back and forth with 1 or 2 pounds. I'm eating protein first and definitely eating less than I would have had before! But 1/2 cup does not fill me up! Not since the swelling has gone, at least!

Anyway, I'm just going to have to conciously eat less, stay a little hungry I guess. I don't know what else to do at this point. So, I'm having a protein shake for breakfast. I'll have a cup of tea at work and a protein shake for lunch. And I might bring some light string cheese as well. Or maybe I should just do the full liquid diet again? I don't know. So many people have these amazing success stories...but not me so far!

I really hope things get better after my first fill in a couple weeks. I'm TRYING to stay positive here, knowing that my band is empty and I won't feel a whole lot of restriction yet. But there is always this little nagging part that says this won't even work for me.

Ugh! Gotta get out of my head sometimes.

I'm heading up to a friend's house for the 4th. I'm just hoping they have something I can eat. Maybe a burger or hotdog without the bun. I'll figure out something, I'm sure.

Oh well, sorry for being a Debbie Downer today! I'll get happy sooner or later!

Off to work!!

Sorry you are having trouble Maggs .. .I can't offer help as I won't be banded until the 15th, but I appreciate that you are writing of your struggle because I'll be there in a couple of weeks. And I am sure some fellow bandsters are going to post some awesome suggestions very soon. Hang in there and as your tag line says, remember IT IS THE JOURNEY!

You aren't alone! There are a lot of people that are blogging or in the forums that talk about a stall. It sucks -- I hate being in it, but I decided last night, like you, to just push through it.

You have a lot going on right now with your move! Have fun at your friends and take care!

Hello Maggs.. We all get in our own heads I know I do at times. If I may make a suggestion. When you go in for your first fill ask your doctor if you can EXERCISE now. If the answer is yes, which I think it will be, then pump it up with exercise. Exercise as you are loseing weight, this is one of the biggest keys to this whole thing...

Your are doing great! This is just a small bump in the road.. Keep up all the good work!!

Maggs, you have been doing so well to this point. The whole idea of the lap-band was the restriction, and you have not been restricted yet. Do not walk around hungry, that will defeat the purpose. Make a protein shake, drink an Isopure or have a cup of soup or broth. You must stay satiated or you will blow yourself up. I find ice pops and Jello help me when I feel somewhat hungry, but not really hungry. Something to take the edge off. Are you having 70-80 grams of protein? I can't seem to hit that number - I'm around 60, but I have only been post-op since 6/21. My first dr appt is Tues. I went to pureed on my own because the soup didn't work - I was hungry all the time. Now I am doing great and you will too. Don't be so concerned about the numbers yet - get your first fill and then see what happens and as Debra G say, exercise is key. Have a great 4th.
