Feeling defeated

Hi guys,

I am having a rough time and it doesn't help that I have a dr that doesn't seem to care. I had an appointment yesterday and for the 3rd time he told me that I was just an enigma to him. He called me a freak of nature last time.

I am losing weight very very slowly. I knew I would lose it slower than most because I have PCOS(Polycystic ovarian syndrome) but I am creeping. Does anyone have any suggestions on helping me shed lbs a little faster...not way fast but 1-2 lbs a week? I am teetering between 33-36 lbs down since Dec 20, 2009. I have lost 22 inches though. I workout 4-5 times a week. I slime everyday and not always the same things...it is pretty much hit or miss but meat usually comes back up unless it is a good day or it is very very very moist like in some kind of sauce or ketchup or something.

Any advise would be appreciated. I am just feeling defeated and asking myself why I had this done in the first place. I have more medical issues now than before surgery.:bored:

I think it's time you found a new doctor. He sounds like a jerk.

I haven't had my surgery yet (4 more days!), so I don't have any real advice for you, sorry. But I will definitely keep you in my prayers! Let me know how things are going for you.

BTW, MY doctor told me that if you will lose anywhere from 5-10 lbs a month, you're doing fine. So, if my math if right, according to MY doctor, you're fine. Plus, you've been working out. Building muscle also increases your weight. (But it's a good increase!)

Again, much luck to you.

It is so hard to be patient with this process, but the truth is that you are doing well. I know there are people out there that have lost twice as much, but there are also people out there that have lost half as much. Everyone has a different pace.

Keep your head up and keep doing what you are doing. At your pace, you are still losing around 60 pounds a year and there is nothing wrong with that.

Chin up! You are doing well. (Your doc on the other hand doesn't seem to be all that great with the bedside manner.)

Maggs,

Thanks. My dr. is a jerk but the next nearest one is 2.5 hours away. That is just not feasible :). I know it is good I am working out but I worked out all the time before surgery...did 1/2 marathons, triathlons, etc. It just takes time I know...THank you for the encouraging words and good luck with your surgery. Keep me posted on your progress :)

Lose It -

I know there are ppl out there that have lost less but dang it I want to lose more! Lol. I know I am averaging 6 lbs a month but it doesn't seem like it cuz 20 of that came off the week after surgery...I had a rough time with the anesthesia and had to go in for a 2nd surgery 3 days later and had nothing by mouth for 5 days :( but doing fine now. So I have basically lost 16 lbs since the initial drop and the frustrating thing is that I will go 6-8 weeks and not lose anything and then finally lose 4-5 lbs. Until those 4-5 lbs come off I am in agony stepping on the scales everyday and seeing no progress. I am trying to keep my chin up:) Thanks! I also am trying to eat only whole foods and very little processed food. Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog...You guys are what gets me through!

Sunflower80,

I too have had a hard time losing. I had a terrible plateu. I just purchased a Bodybugg. It was kinda pricy but it helped me lose 7.5 pounds in the last two weeks. It really helps me track my intake and my calorie burn. I love it. Just something to think over. Good Luck! Don't give up!

I am just two weeks banded . But i have been told it comes off very slow. Sounds like your Dr is a jerk. You just keep trying and as long as its coming off you are doing things right best of luck to you

That's just under 1.5 lbs./week which is right where you should be (especially with going through Bandster Hell). Time to set up a spreadsheet GF to track your weight...I often found out that things weren't as bad as they seemed.

You sound like you're too tight to me...you need to be able to eat solid proteins and for most of us that includes meats. Also you should not be sliming daily.

You need a frank discussion with your Doc to get on the same page. Best wishes! -BG

hi, I know what your r going through.

I had my band in Sept 09 and have lost 40lbs. It is going very slow. I think partially because i have had 4 fills and still have zero restriction. So i can eat practically anything. I do try to stay away from "bad" food but i can eat well over 1 cup of food per meal. I am working out.

My surgeon seems indiferent when i tell him that the scale is not moving.... I have my 5th fill for July but i am going to call and ask for the fill sooner to see if i get closer to the so called "sweet spot"

I would also ve so happy to loose 1-2 lbs per week...i think that would be healthy.

GOOD LUCK and keep you chin up!

WE are doing the best we can, if you can look into changing drs

Suggestiong fro protein COTTAGE cheese. 1/2 cup has 13grams and it goes down
