Hello everyone!

My name is Rebecca and I had LAP-BAND® surgery on March 25, 2008. As of today, I have lost 95 pounds. Although it has been an eventful journey, with both ups and downs, I am ultimately happy with my decision. I would still like to lose another 30-40 pounds, and I know I can do it.

My reason for this thread is because, to go along with my new body, I am also attempting to improve my mind. I have gone back to school and am currently enrolled in a Sociology class. My research paper for this class is on the effects of weight loss surgery on a person's self-esteem.

In order to complete this assignment, and help me pass this class, I ask you to please assist me by filling out the short survey I have attached.

ANY and ALL help is greatly appreciated.

1. What is your age?

2. Have you had bariatric surgery yet?

3. If so, when was the date of your surgery?

4. What was your weight prior to the surgery?

5. What is your weight now? Or, if preferred and you wish to not give specific

weights, how much have you lost?

6. How much more weight fo you have to lose to achieve your “ideal” weight?

7. Has your ideal weight changed since you had surgery?

8. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your self-esteem prior to your

surgery?

9. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your self-esteem now?

10. Are there any particular reasons that you believe your self-esteem has

Improved, worsened, or stayed the same?

Thank you in advance....

Rebecca

10. its improved because i feel more confident in my clothes again. when i was constantly gaining it became an emotional blow to try on clothes and constantly have to change into something less flattering simply because it fit. as a result, i didnt feel as confident.

10. I am successfully moving toward a goal, one that I had stopped believing I could accomplish. I feel good that I am having success instead of more attempts followed by failure.

10.Self esteem has definately improved, there is more sense of belonging in todays society, people look at you differently, treat you differently, and as a mother I dont feel like "the big one" that parents talk about. It has definately changed my life and has given me a whole new outlook on life!

Hope this helps
