2 weeks till surgery

My surgery is 2 weeks from tomorrow. I'm ready to make some changes in my life. This is the only life I have and I don't want to spend it wishing that I was thinner, or had more energy to play with my kids or just clean the house. I'm so nervous though. I keep wondering how I will make it a whole week on clear liquids, or will I be able to stop the bad eating habits I have now. I have heard about people who decide to eat during that first week and become violently ill. That is a motivator right there to not cheat. It is all just so different and scary but exciting. I started this journey back in June with my first consultation at Top Surgeons and now in only two weeks my life will be forever changed and I will make a new me.

one thing that has really helped keep me motivated is if you over eat your gonna feel sick and if you eat things you shouldn't your gonna feel so...so its really helped cuz i felt it the one time after i didn't listen and ate bread when i shouldn't of... i haven't eaten bread since! the surgery is the best thing you can do...i have so much more energy than i did pre surgery and i'm only 35 pounds down...i cant even begin to imagine how great its going to be!

We all learn from our mistakes. You are human. This is a lifestyle change not a life change. The Lapband is not a miracle thing that is going to make you stop cheating and you aren't going to instantly drop the weight over night. It does take work, and it's not easy. It will help you on your journey though.

I have learned to eat slower because I did experience that 'stuck' feeling once. It hurt and I did vomit afterwords. But it made me aware of what I did wrong so I don't do it again. You will find that you aren't able to eat as much as you did before or you will get sick.

If you follow the plan that your doctor gives you then you will be a success. Just remember you ARE going to make mistakes. You ARE going to give into temptation once and awhile. Just learn from what you did and move on. Our saying is 'Everything in Moderation.' You are human. If you totally deprive yourself from every food happiness that you used to have, then you will not be successful.

My surgery was on Oct. 23, 2009. I am down 29lbs and 3 sizes in clothes. I have so much more energy then I had before. This has been a life changing experience for me. One that I would gladly do all over again if I had to.

Good luck to you and Congratulations.

Hi, I am having my surgery on 12/24 and I too have the same fears. I started eating very clean now, doing protein shakes, drinking clear broths as my doctor suggested. It'll help ease your way into the clear broths after surgery or that's what I think. Congrats to Astra!! Keep up the great work.... ;)
