Hi I had my band done on Thursday last week  but are still very fragile. Can anyone please tell me a bit about your experiences afterwards. I was very sick for the first 3 days. I still have a very strong pain on my left side of my stomach. I eat my liquid diet foods every 3 or so hours (250ml's) but are still ravenoues? Any one else? Will it get better? What can I expect for the next phase - mushy foods?

I am on day 17...and I still have a strong pain on my port side...I had the pharacist order me tylenol PM liquid (my doctor recommended that) and it helps me sleep more comfortable...

My first week it was hard to drink water cause you cant gulp...and those little sips were killing me...but you can have italian ice, and it helps trmendously...the lemon and the quenching...they sell them at dominicks...

I am in the mushy stage now...soup and potatos...mashed, baked, whetever...

The first week was hard, your body is adjusting...it does get easier...the 2nd day after my surgery, i was shopping at target, the 3rd day, i was at the mall, and now i am walking 3 days a week...i push myself...i cannot take the pain med she (doctor) gave me cause narcotics make me vomit...

but there is a light at the end of the tunnel...hang in there...

I was sick the first night but after that I slept! AND SLEPT AND SLEPT! I would be in mid-sentence with my husband and fall asleep! It was not rough for me. I just saw it as my body healing so I just let it happen. Your body just has to adjust. Hang in there!

I too was banded last Thursday and my experience is nothing like yours. I guess we are all different, but I took no pain meds at all, have been eating my pre op diet foods when i thought I needed them. I've felt little or no real hunger and I'm being really careful not to irritate my new band. Popsicles are my friend too, but I'm careful not to overdo it. Yogurt is easy, applesauce, not so much. I eat soups for lunch and dinner and don't force anything that isn't feeling right. Good luck, we're all in this together. Hope things start looking up for you soon.

What you are feeling is normal! The pain is from gas! The hunger pain, most everyone has because you won't get restriction after surgery. You need to heal. It sucks, I was just there, but give your body time to heal! You are going to do great!

I had my band on Aug.14th. I was in pain for the first 3 days. Wished I could have taken home the morphine drip meds. But after the first week it gets better. I still get pain in the port site but I think it is just the healing process. Now adding in some mushy foods is exciting really. I have not had a hard time yet with any foods. Everyone is different and it all just takes time. Good luck

Hi I had my band done yesterday and am still in some pain but nothing like I thought I would be. I just wish I could eat some real food but that will come soon enough.
