HELLLLLLLLP!

I have been having terrible hearburn, indigestion and pain which will often cause vomitting. I can't sleep at night and will often have to sleep in the recliner. My stomach feels like it is burning all the time. Doc put me on prilosec, caraphate and now I am taking pepcid chewables when with pain and burning is unbearable. Any suggestions out there for me? I can't take it any more....

I'm in the exact same boat that you are in! I wish I had some advice for you, but I came here seeking advice for this exact problem. I am on pepcid OTC as well, I hope we find some answers and can share with eachother!

Well I think I have gotten my heartburn and indigestion under control. I have gone three weeks without any major issues and have finally been able to sleep. Here is my regime. When I get up in the morning. I have a small cup of coffee and 8 oz. of juice. I have gotten the burning so under control, that I can even have a glass of orange juice. :cryin: Then I have a small lunch, which is usually some soup and a fourth of a turkey or chicken sandwich on rye bread. Before I was always eating wheat bread, and I haven't had any wheat bread in three weeks. Then for supper I just have a small amount of whatever I planned for my hubby for supper and I make sure I have eaten before 7:00p.m. and I only drink water the rest of the night. Absolutely no food the rest of the night! :smile2: I think that is the key. I also quit taking the prilosec, I just keep some pepcid chewables on hand and I will chew a half of one before and after each meal. I feel like a new person. I used to be so overwhelmed by irritation of the heartburn that I had a hard time enjoying anything. I feel soooooo GOOOOOOD! I hope this helps some of you out there. :crying:

That is such good news!!

I'm happy you kept on top of it and have been able to get it under control.

Please keep your doctor informed if you haven't already, just in case she/he comes across others who have this issue. They can inform them to look at their diet and eating time as a possible place to start to try to solve their issue.

I've had acid reflux off and on for 3 years (the first year was the worst) and I've found that if I eat late that it will come on and wake me in the middle of the night. It hurts so bad, my chest is pounding so hard that I think it's going to explode; I’m sweating and trying to get down the hallway to the kitchen as huge task. I'm able to put out the fire w/a small glass of milk--THANK GOODNESS. I also take Tums before I go back to bed.

I really like this site; we talk about anything and everything to help each other out. I wonder if the doctors cruse the site. It would be insightful for them if they did.

Again; congratulations on getting things under control!
