Today is my first day of my blog. There are a lot of feelings going on right now. I feel good that I have lost 11 lbs on this protein diet thing and my surgery is Monday the 13th. I hate the constant thought of food, food, food.

We have 2 female siberian huskies who had pups 1 wk apart. No, it wasn't planned! My re/white husky just killed another of Spirits pups last night. I'm so depressed and over-whelmed and don't know what to do. Poor Spirit is still looking for her pup! I have Sasha shut away with her pups in the garage, so I pray nothing else happens.

I know this 10 day pre diet is worth it, but I'm so tired of worrying about what my family is eating, or can I cook for them. I did make one nice meal for them and spent the entire dinner torturing myself by sitting with them as a family. I finally got up, took my shake upstairs and watched tv in my room. I didn't want to smell or look at the food. Since then, I have make them do their own dinners, which I feel horrible over!!!! My kids are 15, 14, 9, 8 so they still need their mommy!

Well, you are off to a great start already. The pre-op diets are hard, but keep your eye on the ball. It will all be worth it. Just know that all of us on here are going through the same thing, and you are never alone. Best of luck to you, and take care ofthe puppies. Your family will survive!

I am a Mommy too! I was also freaking out about that part. I was banned two weeks ago on a Monday as well. How I love starting my new life on a Monday!! Your family will survive;-) This is time for them to take care of you. This is time for you to take care of you too!! I needed about two days rest after surgery and then you will be sore but up and around. I made two dinners and had them in fridge. Plus a lot of food to grab and go for the family. I cleaned out the fridge the week before surgery best thing I ever did for myself. I loaded it with protein and food for me as well as food for them. Just a little planning and everyone will be happy. They will be fine.

Thanks for sharing you gave me back some memories. Kathy imaluckydog Best wishes

It takes a while to adjust to this whole process. I'm 8 months out from surgery and still have days where I wonder what I'm doing!! Don't worry, it will be worth it. The week or so after surgery will be trying so be prepared. The bad thing about laproscopic surgery is that they blow your stomach up with air to do the surgery. That's the worst pain you feel after surgery. It got trapped in my shoulder and I thought I was going to die!! It's not gas, it's air. You really can't do anything for it except wait for it to dissolve. They say walking helps but it didn't for me. It will only last for a day or so so hang in there. Once that has past you'll feel better. I wish you luck and hope to hear about your progress soon.

Let yourself off the hook. A good Mom will teach her kids to be independent. Your two oldest will benefit from the experience of planning and creating meals and basking in the praise of those who eat it. Your younger two will want to cook but will benefit greatly from doing the cleanup...it might sound selfish but those are critical skills so your kids grow up not to be dependent especially on people who are not good for them!! Dont send you sons out to some poor girl who has to magically make their dinners and clean laundry appear...your future daughters in law will blame you! And for your girls, more independent is always better. Plus all this meal planning and cooking is a great way to help your kids learn healthy eating...the easy stuff is usually bad for you!The healthy stuff, you have to prepare and cook!

Sorry I was on the soap box but its a good thing to let your kids fend for themselves a bit!!!Show your love by praising their efforts, not doing too much for them!!
