Has anyone out there struggling with losing wt. post banding tried this diet? I have and I must say - it is very hard to do but it is only for 5 days which is do able! You def lose wt. and it gets you back on track. It gives you your restriction back. So if you are tired of getting fills - try this and see if it helps for you! Good luck!

VALUABLE INFO - PLEASE READ ALL AND BOOKMARK!!!!!!!!!!!!

How to Tell When You Are Perfectly Adjusted You are losing 1-2 pounds per week.   If you are not losing 1-2 pounds per week:   A. You may need an eating adjustment 1. Are you eating 60 grams of protein a day 2. Are you eating 25 grams of fiber 3. Are you avoiding all liquid calories a. Soup can be sign of “soft calorie syndrome” b. Alcohol contains a lot of calories – 7 calories per gram (1) It’s also a stomach irritant c. Fruit juice is just sugar water 4. Are you making healthy food choices from a wide variety of foods? a. Are you avoiding soft foods b. You can’t just eat what’s easy c. Cheese is glorified fat 5. Are you drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day between meals 6. Are you eating too much junk a. Chips, chocolate, nuts, ice cream, cookies and other highly processed junk foods are too calorically dense to be regular parts of a healthy diet. But don’t avoid them completely to the point where you feel deprived. b. Stay out of fast food places 7. Are you getting in two servings of calcium daily 8. Do you always eat the protein first 9. Then the vegetables or fruits a. Five servings a day b. Potatoes are NOT a vegetable 10. Is your portion size appropriate? a. Meat or fish (1) 3 ounces – the size of a deck of cards b. Vegetables (1) ½ cup – the size of your fist c. Starch (1) If you eat the protein and the vegetables first you don’t need much (2) Avoid: rice, potatoes, pasta 11. You might try avoiding artificial sweeteners a. Some people think that artificial sweeteners stimulate the appetite b. They are HUNDREDS of times sweeter than sugar c. They teach you to like things too sweet d. There is no evidence that people who use them are any thinner than people who don’t 12. Avoid most diet foods a. Real food usually tastes better b. Real food is more satisfying than low calorie substitutes c. When you are only eating a tiny bit the caloric savings is not that great (1) Use a teaspoon of real butter instead of a tablespoon of diet margarine (2) The body has no way to break down artificial fats a. They may go into permanent storage b. Some people think liposuction is the only way to remove hydrolyzed fats from the body   B. You may need a behavior adjustment   1. Are you eating only when you are hungry? a. If you’re not sure drink 8 ounces of water and wait. 2. Are you eating three meals a day? a. With maybe 1 or 2 small snacks 3. Are you sitting down to eat? 4. Are you eating consciously? a. No distractions, turn off the TV, put the book or newspaper away, pay attention to your food and your companions 5. Are you eating slowly? a. Put the fork down between bites b. Take 20 to 30 minutes to finish a meal c. Taking longer might cause the pouch to begin emptying 6. Are you taking small bites? a. Tiny spoon, chopsticks, cocktail fork 7. Are you chewing well? 8. Are you drinking with your meals or too soon after your meals? a. Practice water loading between meals b. You won’t be thirsty if you are well hydrated before the meal 9. Are you stopping at the first sign of fullness? a. Sometimes it’s a whisper: not hungry, had enough b. Hard stop versus soft stop 10. Do not eat between meals. Stop grazing. 11. Do not eat when you are not hungry   C. You may need an activity adjustment   1. Are you getting in 30 minutes of physical activity at least 3 times a week? a. Over and above what you would do in the usual course of your day b. Could you make it 4 or 5 times a week? c. Could you make it 45 or 60 minutes? 2. Are you taking advantage of opportunities to increase your physical activity? a. Taking the stairs instead of the elevators or escalators b. Walking on the escalators instead of riding c. Parking your car further away from the entrance d. Getting out of the car instead of using the drive through e. Getting off the bus one stop before your destination f. Washing you car by hand instead of the car wash g. Playing with your kids   D. You may need an attitude adjustment   1. Are you committed to your weight loss journey? 2. Are you totally honest with yourself about how much you are eating and exercising? a. Log your food and activity on ww.fitday.com for 3 days 3. Are you using food inappropriately to deal with emotional issues? a. Have you identified what the emotions are that drive your eating? b. Can you think of more appropriate ways to deal with those emotions? c. Are you willing to seek help from a qualified counselor? 4. Are you attending and participating in support group meetings? 5. Have you drummed up some support from your family and friends? 6. Have you dealt with saboteurs realistically? 7. Do you have realistic expectations about the weight loss journey? 8. Are you still obsessing about food, weight, dieting, eating? a. Obsessive – compulsive thoughts (1) Obsess about something else b. Perfectionism (1) All or none, black and white thinking c. Patience with the pace of healthy weight loss 9. Are you acknowledging your successes with non-food rewards? 10. Have you learned how to take a compliment? 11. Are you giving up diet mentality? a. Stop weighing yourself several times a day or every day b. Stop dieting c. Stop depriving yourself d. Stop defining food as “good” and “bad” e. Stop rewarding and punishing yourself with food 12. How do you feel about all the changes taking place?   E. You may need a band adjustment   1. You feel like you are making healthy food choices in appropriate portion sizes but getting hungry between meals? 2. You can still eat white bread, fibrous vegetables and large portions. 3. You are having to struggle to lose 4. You are gaining weight in spite of eating right, exercising and having a good mind set.   F. You may need your band loosened   1. There are times when you can’t get fluids down 2. You are vomiting too much a. How much is too much? 3. Do you have frequent reflux or heartburn at night? a. Do not lie flat or bend over soon after eating b. Do not eat late at night or just before bedtime c. Rinse your pouch with a glass or water an hour before bedtime d. Certain foods or drinks are more likely to cause reflux: (1) Rich, spicy, fatty and fried foods (2) Chocolate (3) Caffeine (4) Alcohol (5) Some fruits and vegetables a. Oranges, lemons, tomatoes, peppers (6) Peppermint a. Baking soda toothpaste (7) Carbonated drinks e. Eat slowly and do not eat big meals f. If you smoke, quit smoking g. Reduce stress h. Exercise promotes digestion i. Raise the head of your bed j. Wear loose fitting clothing around your waist k. Stress increases reflux l. Take estrogen containing medications in the morning m. Avoid aspirin, Aleve and ibuprofen at bedtime (1) Tylenol is OK n. Take an antacid (Pepcid complete) before retiring o. Try other over-the-counter heartburn medications p. See your health care provider 4. See your health care provider immediately (or call 911) if a. You have a squeezing, tightness or heaviness in your chest, especially if the discomfort spreads to your shoulder, arm or jaw or is accompanied by shortness of breath, sweating, irregular or fast heartbeat or nausea. These could be symptoms of a heart attack. b. If your symptoms are triggered by exercise. c. If your pain localizes to your right side, especially if you also have nausea or fever d. If you throw up vomit that looks like black sand or coffee grounds. Or if your stool is black, deep red or looks like it has tar in it. These are symptoms of bleeding and need immediate attention.   (Note: Pepto-Bismol or other medications with bismuth will turn your stool black. Iron supplements can also make the stool tarry.) e. SLIMING - EWE!!!!!

WELL I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT YOU FELLOW BANDERS WERE TALKING ABOUT WHEN YOU MENTIONED "SLIMING". WELL I FOUND OUT THIS AM. I FELT REALLY HUNGRY SO I DECIDED TO HAVE A SCRAMBLE EGG AND A PIECE OF TURKEY BACON. WELL - IT KINDA FELT STUCK AND HURT - THEN THE SALIVA IN THE MOUTH INCREASED AND I KNEW THEN WHAT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. OH MAN! IT ALL CAME BACK UP! WHAT A HORRIBLE FEELING. MY THROAT STILL HURT FOR ABOUT 1 HR. LATER. AND MY STOMACH. SO EITHER THE EGGS AND BACON DIDNT AGREE WITH ME OR I ATE TOO MUCH OR SINCE I GOT MY FIRST FILL OF ONLY 1/2 CC LAST WK. - MAYBE I HAVE MORE RESTRICTION THAN I THOUGHT???? WHO KNOWS. BUT IT WAS NOT PLEASANT. DON'T WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN. NOT WORTH IT! I SURE WISH THAT SCALE WOULD BUDGE. IT IS NOT GOING DOWN EVEN THOUGH I HAVE BEEN DRINKING PROTEIN SHAKES FOR BREAKFAST AND LUNCH. SLIMING

Well it happened to me today! I thought I would try out a packet of tuna without the water as I have never had it before. Well not thinking, I ate it without moistening it first. Well it didn't take long until I was in total miserable pain of being "stuck". I thought I would die. After about 5 minutes of this torture, I started sliming and then totally throwing up. Lesson learned - do not eat dry packaged tuna without moistening it first. Sometimes I can be so stupid it seems! Lol

SHED 7 MORE LBS!!!

I HAD MY CHECK UP TODAY. I LOST 7 MORE LBS. YEH!!! I DIDN'T THINK THE SCALE WAS EVER GONNA MOVE! BUT IT DID! I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO ONDERLAND! I ALSO GOT A .5CC FILL TODAY TOO. I HOPE I HAVE BETTER RESTRICTION NOW! SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I COULD EAT A HORSE. LOL

JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I HAD NO RESTRICTION AT ALL - EVEN AFTER 2 SMALL FILLS, - BEING ABLE TO EAT WHAT I WANT AND MORE THAN WHAT I SHOULD, BAM - I THROW UP YET AGAIN (3RD TIME IN 3 WKS) WHEN EATING SOMETHING I HAVE EATEN BEFORE WITH NO PROBLEMS. MY LAPBAND JOURNEY - SURGERY DAY! - JAN. 17, 2011

JAN. 17, 2011 - MONDAY - SURGERY DAY - WELL I WENT FOR MY LAPBAND SURGERY TODAY! WAS SCHEDULED FOR 8 AM AND GOT OUT OF RECOVERY BY 10:30 AM. GOT TAKEN TO MY ROOM THEN. ALL I CAN REMEMBER FROM THE SURGERY IS GETTING A SHOT OF VERSED FROM THE ANESTHESIOLOGIST TO RELAX ME AND THEN THEY PUT THE MASK ON MY FACE AND TOLD ME TO TAKE SOME DEEP BREATHS. THEY SAID IT WAS SOME OXYGEN! HA - AFTER SEVERAL DEEP BREATHS - I WAS UNDER! NEXT THING I REMEMBER THEY WERE TRYING TO GET ME AWAKE IN RECOVERY ROOM. I REMEMBER WAKING UP WITH THE MOST HORRIFIC NECK, CHEST AND LEFT SHOULDER PAIN. I COULD HARDLY STAND IT. THEN I REMEMBER WHAT EVERYONE ELSE HAD SAID ON THEIR BLOGS ABOUT THE POST OP GAS PAINS THAT SETTLED IN THEIR SHOULDERS. I GUESS MINE WAS SO BAD BECAUSE I ALSO HAD A HIATAL HERNIA REPAIRED AS WELL! YEA ME! THEY OF COURSE TOLD ME WHAT SO MANY OF YOU HAD ALREADY TOLD ME - TO WALK WALK WALK!!! WHICH I DID. I ONLY TOOK 1 PERCOCET THE DAY OF SURGERY. THAT WAS IT. THEY DID GIVE ME TORADOL IN MY IV SEVERAL TIMES FOR INFLAMATION AND PAIN THEY SAID. IT DIDN'T HELP THE PAIN MUCH AT ALL. I GUESS IT WAS JUST SOMETHING THAT HAS TO BE WORKED OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM IN TIME. I WAS ALLOWED TO HAVE LIQUIDS FOR MY FIRST HOSPITAL MEAL WHICH WAS SUPPER. IT CONSISTED OF WATERED DOWN STRAINED TOMATOE SOUP - ONLY 4 OZ. 4 OZ. HOT TEA AND 4 OZ. SKIM MILK. THAT'S IT. HOWEVER, IT ALL TASTED DELICIOUS TO ME CAUSE I WAS HUNGRY!!! HA HA. I DIDN'T GET MUCH SLEEP IN THE HOSPITAL THAT NIGHT NEEDLESS TO SAY BECAUSE JUST WHEN YOU FALL ASLEEP THEY COME IN TO CHECK YOUR VITALS, GIVE A SHOT, OR WHATEVER! THEY DON'T LET YOU GET ANY REST! BUT ALL IN ALL - I WOULD DEF SAY THAT THE 2 WK. PRE OP DIET WAS MUCH WORSE THAN THE ACTUAL OPERATION!!! THAT'S MY 2 CENTS WORTH! LOL P.S. - I LOST 6 MORE LBS. ON THE 2 WK. PRE OP DIET. SO THAT MAKES A TOTAL OF 16 LBS. LOST SO FAR. YEH ME!!!!

JAN. 11, 2011 - TUESDAY - DAY 9 OF PRE OP DIET. - WELL I WAS UP AT 5 AM. THIS AM. I HAD MY EGD DONE THIS MORNING. NEEDLESS TO SAY - I DID NOT SLEEP WELL LAST NIGHT! VERY RESTLESS WORRYING ABOUT THE PROCEDURE. WELL IT WENT WELL AND WAS VERY FAST. I REALLY DON'T REMEMBER MUCH ABOUT IT! THEY GAVE ME SOME GOOD DRUGS - LOL SO MY LAPBAND SURGERY IS ON AS SCHEDULED FOR NEXT MONDAY 1/17. THEY GAVE ME SOME HOT TEA AND A POPSICLE FOLLOWING MY EGD. I HAD SOME SUGAR FREE JELLO A WHILE AGO - SO THAT LEAVES ME WITH MY PROTEIN SHAKES TO HAVE YET TODAY AND THAT'S IT! GEEZ! OH YAH - I HAD MY PROTEIN BAR AND ANOTHER DECAF CUP OF TEA TODAY ALSO. IT IS SNOWIG AND FREEZING COLD OUT TODAY HERE IN PENNSYLVANIA SO I JUST DO NOT FEEL LIKE TAKING MY DAILY WALK AROUND THE BLOCK. I WILL INSTEAD JUST WALK AROUND THE HOUSE AND STUFF FOR EXERCISE. I WILL BE NPO (NOTHING BY MOUTH) AGAIN TONIGHT AFTER MIDNIGHT AS I HAVE TO HAVE SOME LABS DONE TOMORROW MORNING. THE JAN. 17 SURGERY DATE IS SOON APPROACHING!!!

JAN. 10, 2011 - MONDAY - DAY 8 OF PRE OP DIET. - CAN'T WAIT FOR TODAY TO BE OVER. NOT A GOOD DAY AT ALL FOR ME. I AM ACHEY, COLD, AND STILL HAVING DIARHEA FOR OVER A WK. NOW. DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. I SWITCHED MY MILK ONCE AGAIN TO ALMOND MILK WHICH IS LACTOSE FREE AS WELL. MY FIBROMYALGIA IS REALLY ACTING UP TODAY. I AM SO ACHEY - I CAN'T STAND IT. I DON'T FEEL LIKE WALKING TODAY. I DID GET OUT AND WENT SHOPPING THOUGH. I GUESS I GOT SOME EXERCISE THAT WAY. I HAD TO FORCE MYSELF TO GO THOUGH. HAD MY 2 PRTEIN SHAKES, 1 SMALL SUGAR FREE JELLO, 1 SUGARFREE POPSICLE, AND A PROTEIN BAR WITH SOME DECAF HOT TEA. THAT'S IT! I KEEP FEELING EACH MORNING LIKE I LOST MORE WT. BUT THE SCALE DOESN'T SEEM TO MOVE MUCH????? WHAT THE HECK? WELL TOMORROW MORNING IS MY EGD. I HAVE TO BE NPO (NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT) - HA - THAT'S A JOKE! JAN. 23, 2011 - SUNDAY - DAY 6 POST OP - WELL I GOT UP EARLY THIS AM AT 6:30 AM. COULDN'T SLEEP! SO I CAME DOWNSTAIRS AND GOT ON MY LAPTOP AND STARTED READING OTHERS' BLOGS. VERY INTERESTING!!! AND ENJOYABLE - I MIGHT ADD!!! BEFORE I KNEW IT - MY LIL GRANDSON WAS AWAKE - SO THAT MEANS - OK GRANDMA - YOU'RE GONNA HAVE A BUSY DAY! HA HA. LUV HIM TO DEATH. LOL. - ANYWAYS, TODAY IS THE STEELERS/JETS CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYOFF GAME AT 4:30 PM - SO I WILL BE CONCENTRATING ON THAT. I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. VERY ANXIOUS!!! IT IS GOOD TO GET YOUR MIND OFF OF YOUR PROBLEMS FOR A WHILE! TODAY WILL BE A GOOD DAY AND SO WILL TOMORROW. I GO SEE THE DOC TOMORROW FOR MY FIRST POST OP FOLLOW UP. JAN. 22, 2011 - SATURDAY - DAY 5 POST OP - WELL THE DAYS ARE GOING FAST IT SEEMS! MONDAY IS ALMOST HERE! MY FIRST POST OP VISIT WITH THE DOC! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IF I LOST ANY MORE WT.? GEEZ - IT SEEMS LIKE THAT IS ALL THAT IS ON MY MIND ANY MORE! LOL. WELL - THAT CERTAINLY IS BETTER THAN THINKING ABOUT FOOD ALL THE TIME INSTEAD!!! MY PANTS DO SEEM TO FIT LOOSER EACH MORNING. YEH! I HAVE NOT WEIGHED MYSELF SINCE SURGERY DAY LAST MONDAY! I HAVE BEEN FAITHFUL TO MY LIQUID DIET. STILL HAVING THINNED CREAM OF WHEAT MADE WITH WATER, AND THINNED TOMATOE SOUP MADE WITH WATER ALSO. AND OF COURSE THE DREADED - CHOCOLATE PROTEIN SHAKES IN BETWEEN! ALSO HAD SOME CHICKEN BROTH AND SUGAR FREE POPSICLES. ALL IN ALL I SEEM TO FILL SATISFIED. I ALSO HAD MY FIRST B.M. YEH! DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS EVER GONNA HAPPEN! GEEZ! HA HA. I HAVE NOT BEEN WALKING - I KNOW VERY BAD - BUT MY GRANDSON HAS BEEN HERE WITH ME THIS WEEKEND (HE'S ONLY 5) AND HE HAS BEEN KEEPING ME VERY BUSY TO SAY THE LEAST, SO I AM SURE I HAVE BEEN GETTING ALOT OF EXERCISE! LOL. I DO SO WANT TO START WALIKING OUTSIDE AGAIN - JUST AS SOON AS THIS WINTER WEATHER IS OVER! SPRING PLEASE GET HERE VERY SOOOOOON!!!! THANK YOU!

MY LAPBAND JOURNEY - DAY 4 POST OP

JAN. 21, 2011 - FRIDAY - DAY 4 POST OP - FELT SO BETTER AFTER MY SHOWER AND BANDAGES TAKEN OFF. THE PAIN IS LESS AND LESS ALSO. I DID NOT EVEN TAKE THE CHILDREN'S LIQUID TYLENOL LAST NIGHT BEFORE BED. I NEVER DID TAKE ANYTHING FOR THE GAS PAINS, I JUST WALKED. I HAVE NOT BEEN FEELING TOO HUNGRY SO I GUESS THE CREAM OF WHEAT FOR BREAKFAST AND TOMATOE SOUP FOR SUPPER AND THE PROTEIN SHAKES IN BETWEEN HAVE BEEN ENOUGH. JUST A COUPLE DAYS NOW TILL MY FIRST POST OP VISIT WITH DR. MARLEY. I AM WONDERING WHEN AND IF I WILL GET AN ADJUSTMENT OR "FILL". THE ONLY THING I AM AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH RIGHT NOW IS TRYING TO GET THE SUPPLEMENTS DOWN. THEY ARE HUGE. THE MULTIVITAMIN AND CALCIUM SUPPLEMENTS. I AM SUPPOSED TO CHEW THEM BUT THEY TASTE CHALKY AND GRITTY AND I AM AFRAID THEY WILL MAKE ME GAG AND THROW UP. I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT OF COURSE. SO I HAVE BEEN BREAKING THEM INTO LITTLE PIECES AND TAKING WITH WATER BUT IT TAKES FOREVER AND THEY ARE STILL VERY HARD AND I AM AFRAID OF THEM GETTING STUCK ON THE WAY DOWN. ANY SUGGESTIONS OUT THERE? MY BLOOD SUGAR READING ARE STAYING WITHIN PRETTY GOOD LIMITS STILL WITHOUT THE MEDICINE. SO FAR SO GOOD. I KEEP WONDERING IF I LOST ANY MORE WT.? I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO WAIT A COUPLE MORE DAYS TO FIND OUT AT THE DR.'S.

JAN. 20, 2011 - THURSDAY - DAY 3 POST OP - WOW THE WEEK IS GOING BY FAST. I TOOK MY BANDAGES OFF YESTERDAY EVENING. PRETTY SCARY. LOL. UNDERNEATH WAS NOT TOO BAD THOUGH. NOW TODAY I WILL BE GETTIN THAT SHOWER. OUCH ON MY BELLY. HA HA THE CREAM OF WHEAT THINNED DOWN HAS BEEN WORKNG WELL FOR ME FOR BREAKFAST AND THINNED TOMATOE SOUP FOR SUPPER AND THEN THE PROTEIN SHAKES FOR LUNCH AND EVEVING TIME SEEMS TO WORK WELL. I ATE A COLD POPSICLE LAST NIGHT AND IT GAVE ME SPASMS IN MY BELLY. NOT FUN. COLD DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK TOO GOOD WITH ME. I AM GETTIN USED TO THE 4 OZ. SMALL PORTIONS AS WELL. HAVE BEEN WALKING WALKING AND MORE WALKING AS WELL TO TRY N GET THE GAS PAINS OUT. ONLY TAKING CHILDREN'S LIQUID TYLENOL AT NIGHT TO ALLEVIATE PAIN AND SLEEP BETTER. NOW I JUST HAVE TO TRY AND REMEMBER TODAY TO DRINK MORE WATER. ALL IN ALL I WOULD SAY THINGS ARE GOING PRETTY WELL POST OP.

JAN. 19, 2011 - WEDNESDAY - DAY 2 POST OP - WELL I FINALLY GOT A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP! HOME IN MY OWN BED. I ACTUALLY SLEPT THROUGH THE WHOLE NIGHT. I SURE NEEDED THAT! WOKE UP STILL IN ALOT OF PAIN IN CHEST AND LEFT SHOULDER. I NEED TO WALK ALOT TODAY TO TRY TO GET SOME MORE OF THE GAS PAINS OUT. I HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY PAIN MEDS SINCE I HAVE BEEN HOME OTHER THAN CHILDREN'S LIQUID TYLENOL. ONLY PROBLEM WITH THAT IS - I BOUGHT THE BUBBLE GUM FLAVORED UNKNOWINGLY AND IT IS AWEFUL SWEET. YUK. I AM SURE PROB HAS A TON OF CALORIES IN IT TOO. LOL. BUT IT WORKS AND IT IS OVER THE COUNTER AND NON NARCOTIC SO IT DOESN'T MAKE ME FEEL OUT OF IT!!! I HATE THAT FEELING! I GET TO TAKE MY OUTER BANDAGES OFF TODAY AND TAKE A SHOWER. YEH! I AM A LIL SCARED THOUGH AS I AM STILL VERY TENDER. BUT IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DO SO OTHERWISE YOUR WOUND SITE WILL GET INFECTED. I HAD SOME THINNED DOWN CREAM OF WHEAT FOR BREAKFAST AND SOME HOT TEA. TASTED GOOD. I WILL BE HAVING MY PROTEIN SHAKES FOR THE REST OF MY MEALS TODAY. THAT'S ABOUT IT! I LEARNED THAT YOU DON'T USUALLY LOSE ALOT OF WT. RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE OF THE SWELLING AND HEALING PROCESS GOING ON IN YOUR TUMMY - BUT ONCE THAT IS OVER YOU LOOSE QUICKLY!!! SO YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT! JAN. 16, 2011 - SUNDAY - DAY 14 OF MY 2 WK. PRE OP DIET (LAST DAY!) - WELL TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF MY TWO WK. PRE OP DIET! YEH! I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SEE THE END IN SIGHT! WELL I AM DEFINIITELY SCARED ABOUT TOMORROW MORNING'S SURGERY. MY DAUGHTER, JAMIE DROVE IN FROM PITTSBURGH TO BE WITH ME FOR 2 DAYS DURING SURGERY. THAT WILL MAKE IT ALOT EASIER FOR ME! JAN. 15, 2011 - SATURDAY - DAY 13 OF 2 WK. PRE OP DIET. - WELL I MADE THE BIG MISTAKE OF WATCHING LAPBAND SURGERY VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE LAST NIGHT. OH MY GOSH! DO NOT WATCH THEM!!! I AM NOW READY TO CANCEL MY SURGERY! HA - WISH I COULD BUT I CAN'T! I AM A TROOPER - SO I MUST KEEP ON KEEPING ON! THERE HAS TO BE A RAINBOW AT THE END OF THIS JOURNEY RIGHT? SO I WILL HAVE MY PROTEIN SHAKES AND BAR TODAY ALONG WITH MY SUGAR FREE JELLO AND POPSICLE AND HOT DECAF TEA AND SOME CHICKEN BROTH. YUK! JAN. 14, 2011 - FRIDAY - DAY 12 OF 2 WEEK PRE OP DIET - WELL IT IS GETTING CLOSER AND CLOSER TO MY SURGERY DAY OF MONDAY. I AM STARTING TO GET NERVOUS! I PROBABLY SHOULDN'T READ THE BLOGS ON ACTUAL SURGERY DAY. PRETTY SCARY, MAKES ME WANT TO CANCEL. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO STAY SO POSITIVE UP TO THIS POINT. I HAVE BEEN KINDA MOODY TODAY TOO! I DO HAVE MY LIL GRANDSON HERE WITH ME, WHICH MAKES THE DAY SO MUCH MORE TOLERABLE! HE KEEPS ME BUSY FOR SURE! HAD MY USUAL PROTEIN SHAKES TODAY, ALONG WITH SUGAR FREE JELLO AND POPSICLE, PROTEIN BAR, HOT DECAF TEA, AND BROTH. I TRIED THE BEEF BROTH TODAY - I DID NOT CARE FOR IT. I LIKE THE CHICKEN BROTH THOUGH. TRYING TO GET THINGS TOGETHER THAT I WILL NEED TO TAKE TO THE HOSPITAL FOR SURGERY. I KEEP WONDERING HOW MUCH MORE WEIGHT I LOST ON THIS 2 WK. PRE OP DIET. MY SCALE SHOWS I LOST SOME MORE, BUT IT IS UNRELIABLE - SO I WILL WAIT FOR THE OFFICIAL WEIGHT WHEN I GET TO THE HOSPITAL I GUESS.

JAN. 13, 2011 - THURSDAY - WELL I SLEPT GOOD AGAIN LAST NIGHT. I HAD MY HOT DECAF TEA AND A PROTEIN BAR FOR BREAKFAST. I AM ACTUALLY COUNTING DOWN THE BARS I STILL HAVE TO EAT YET! YUK!!! I HAD A CUP OF CHICKEN BROTH. IT TASTED HEAVENLY. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT I WOULD EVER SAY THAT IN MY LIFETIME? I STILL HAVE MY 2 CHOC PROTEIN SHAKES TO DRINK TODAY YET - AND I CAN HAVE MY SUGAR FREE POPSICLE AND SUGAR FREE JELLO YET AND THEN THAT'S IT FOR TODAY! I AM GONNA DO SOME JUMPIN JACKS AND WALK AROUND THE HOUSE ALOT TODAY COZ I NEED SOME EXERCISE! I STILL CAN'T GET OUTSIDE TO WALK COZ OF THE DARN SNOW!!! JAN. 12, 2011 - WEDNESDAY - DAY 10 OF PRE OP DIET. - WELL I SLEPT IN THIS AM AND IT FELT GOOD TO DO SO! I SAW IT HAD SNOWED LIKE A FOOT OR MORE OUTSIDE THOUGH! YUK! I HAD TO DIG MYSELF OUT AND GO TO THE HOSPITAL TO GET LABS DRAWN. I SURVIVED. I AM CRAVING VEGETABLE SOUP SOOOOO BAD TODAY! WISH I COULD HAVE IT - BUT I CAN'T! HAD MY USUAL CHOCOLATE BARIATRIC ADVANTAGE PROTEIN SHAKES AND BAR. I DID HAVE 2 SMALL CONTAINERS OF CRANBERRY JUICE AT THE HOSPITAL AFTER LABS. TASTED GOOD! SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR A CHANGE! ALSO HAD MY SUGAR FREE POPSICLE AND SUGAR FREE JELLO TODAY AND THAT'S IT! COULD NOT GET OUTSIDE FOR A WALK TODAY BECAUSE OF THE SNOW EITHER! I AM TIRED OF THIS WEATHER. WISH SPRING WOULD GET HERE SOON! WHEN IT DOES - HOPEFULLY I WILL BE THINNER!!!! YEH!

MY LAPBAND JOURNEY - DAY 1 POST OP SURGERY

JAN. 18, 2011 - TUESDAY - DAY 1 POST OP SURGERY - WELL I AM VERY TIRED TODAY AND GROGGY AND STILL IN ALOT OF PAIN MAINLY DUE TO NOT GETTING MUCH SLEEP AT HOSPITAL LAST NIGHT. SINCE I HAD TO HAVE A HIATAL HERNIA REPAIR AS WELL, I AM EXPERIENCING ALOT OF EXTRA POST OP PAIN! MOSTLY IN MY CHEST AND LEFT SHOULDER. SOME OF IT IS STILL FROM THE GAS THAT WAS PUT IN MY STOMACH DURING SURGERY. I WILL PROBABLY HAVE THIS PAIN A COUPLE MORE DAYS. I HAVE TO BE ON THE LIQUID DIET ALL THIS WEEK YET. THE CHOCOLATE BARIATRIC ADVANTAGE PROTEIN SHAKES 3 X DAY FOR MY MEALS. I CAN HAVE SUGAR FREE POPSICLES AND LIQUIDS AS WELL AND CLEAR BROTH OR STRAINED WATERED DOWN CREAM SOUPS. SO BACK TO THE DREADFUL PROTEIN SHAKES FOR ANOTHER WEEK! GREAT!!!!!!!!!! THEN I GO BACK TO SEE DR. MARLEY ON MONDAY FOR MY FIRST POST OP APPOINTMENT. I AM DOWN 6 MORE LBS. FOR A TOTAL WT. LOSS OF 16 LBS. TOTAL. I HOPE TO LOSE MORE WT. BY NEXT MONDAY TOO!!! I HAVE TO WALK ALOT TOO ALL THIS WEEK. IT IS GOOD TO BE HOME!! I AM GLAD THIS NIGHTMEAR IS OVER!!!

JAN. 31, 2011 - MONDAY - 2 WK. POST OP - WELL I HAD MY DR. APPT. TODAY. I LOST 4 MORE LBS. FOR A TOTAL OF 30. YEH! I WAS ADVANCED TO REG. DIET. I AM TO GO BACK IN 2 WKS. AND THEY WILL XRAY MY BAND TO CHECK POSITION AND FOR A "FILL" IF I WANT ONE. YEH! I AM GLAD TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF JAN. - GEEZ!!!! WHAT A LONG AND COLD MONTH! FEB. WILL BE BETTER. AT LEAST IT IS SHORT. AND VALENTINE'S DAY! (SWEET) LAST WK. WAS LONG AND DEPRESSING FOR ME. GLAD IT IS OVER AS WELL. IT WAS GOOD TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR THE FIRS TIME THIS WK. TODAY. I EVEN WENT TO WALMART TO DO SOME SHOPPING AFTER MY DR. APPT. THAT WAS MY EXERCISE. MY LEG HURT TERRIBLY THOUGH WHEN I GOT HOME FROM MY FIBROMYALGIA. I JUST CAN'T WIN IT SEEMS. BUT IT IS OK NOW. I AM RELAXING. SO FOR MY SUPPER I HAD A SMALL PORK CUTLET WITH MUSHROOMS, SOME GREEN BEANS, A LIL SPOONFUL OF APPLESAUCE, AND A FEW BLUEBERRIES WITH A SPOONFUL OF FAT FREE WHIP CREAM. TASTED HEAVENLY. THE PORK WAS A LIL ROUGH TO GET DOWN THOUGH. A LIL DRY. IT SUCKS THAT YA CAN'T DRINK ANYTHING. I HAD TO WAIT 1/2 HR. TO DRINK. IT SEEMS YOU GET SO THIRSTY AT MEALTIME. DON'T IT FIGURE! WELL IT SEEMS LIKE MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE ARE HAVING THEIR SURGERY SOON. LOTS OF COMPANY TO TALK TO. THAT'S GREAT! MY LAPBAND JOURNEY - 2 MONTHS POST OP

I went to my Dr. appt. today. I lost 10 lbs. this month for a total of 40 lbs. Yeh! I also got 1/4 cc of a fill. Total fill of 5 1/4 cc in a 10 cc band. I don't feel any restriction yet though. That is really weird. I tried for the second time to get off of the Lyrica for my fibromyalgia since it causes wt. gain, but I had to get back on the med as the pain was just too unbearable. Why does life have to be so difficult some times? Oh well - I am happy about the lost wt. Have a wonderful day!

JAN. 24, 2011 - MONDAY - 1 WK. POST OP - WELL I WENT TO MY DR. APPT. TODAY. I LOST 10 MORE LBS. TOTAL WT. LOSS 26 LBS. YEH! MY STERI STRIPS WERE TAKEN OFF AND THE INCISIONS ARE HEALING WELL. MY DIET WAS ADVANCED TO PUREED. NO MORE PROTEIN SHAKES - YEH! I AM TO RETURN IN 1 WK. FOR MY NEXT APPT. I WENT TO WALMART TO CELEBRATE BY BUYING SOME NONFAT AND SUGAR FREE FOOD FOR MYSELF. WHEN I GOT HOME I MADE MYSELF SOME PUREED TUNA WITH A BIT OF FAT FREE MIRACLE WHIP AND HAD SOME NO ADDED SUGAR APPLESAUCE AND A SMALL CONTAINER OF HIGH FIBER PEACH YOGURT. IT TASTED YUMMY! I FELT SATISFIED. I HAVE TO REMEMBER THOUGH - NO DRINKING 1/2 HR. BEFORE OR AFTER A MEAL. AND NO MORE THAN 3/4 CUP OF FOOD EACH MEAL. I THINK I OVERDID IT TODAY - I AM VERY TIRED SO I THINK I WILL GO TO BED NOW! GOODNITE ALL!!!!

MRI OF LS SPINE

I HAD AN MRI OF MY LS SPINE LAST WK. IT SHOWED ARTHRITIS OF SPINE. PAIN CLINIC WANTS TO INJECT MY SPINE WITH PAIN MED WHICH WOULD LAST UP TO 3 MONTHS. IT IS A 20 MIN PROCEDURE AND THEY INSERT A NEEDLE INTO THE SPINE AND TAKE PICS AND THEN INJECT WHEN THEY FEEL IT WILL BE MOST BENEFICIAL. (THE ALTERNATIVE WOULD BE TO TAKE THE ORAL PAIN PILLS OR PAIN PATCH BUT I AM AFRAID OF GETTING ADDICTED). I AM SCARED TO DEATH OF GETTING THIS NEEDLE PROCEDURE DONE. DID ANYONE OUT THERE IN BAND LAND EVER HAVE THIS DONE AND IF SO, CAN YOU PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW YOU DID WITH IT? THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE. I AM SO TIRED OF HAVING SCIATIC PAIN THAT RUNS DOWN MY BUTT AND BACK OF MY LEGS TO MY HEEL EVERY TIME I GO OUTSIDE TO WALK AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT WOULD HAVE IMPROVED AFTER LOSING SOME WT. BUT IT HAS GOTTEN STEADILY WORSE.
