Chewing gum?

Hi everyone,

I am about 10 mo. out, and wanted to chew gum to take some of the obsession away when I want a snack... I know early on post-op gum is not good but what about now?

I don't know about everyone else, but I chew gum all the time! Can't work out without it...just make sure not to swallow your gum. Can't imagine that being a good thing.

I was never told that gum was a bad thing... I have chewed gum ever since 1 month post op.

I was told that chewing gum was a no no, but I do chew it occasionally. I do find that it makes my band feel tighter and it gives me excess air. I also would not suggest swallowing it...other than that I don't see why it would be a problem.

I had my 2nd fill the other day. I was chewing gum through the entire appt. at the end i said,"gum is ok right?" and he said as long as i don't swallow it and don't have a problem with it,then it's fine... i'm a lil over 5 mnths. out

Thanks everyone, that's what I was figuring, but wasn't sure about the air. I haven't had any problems with the few that I've had, but wanted to check the consensus ;-)
