I've been banded for two years. In general, I feel it's been a good experience. Six months ago, I got a fill (2.5 ccs) that felt like I'd hit just the right restriction - my appetite was gone and I really had to think about the whole chewing, size, and consistency issues before swallowing. I was thrilled. But two days later, my throat started cramping up, and would stay closed (although I could still swallow). I immediately had the band emptied and my soreness disappeared. A month later I had another fill with 3/4 the amount - again, throat collapsed, only this time when I had it emptied, my throat was really bad for over a week. Not really sure where to go from here. My doctor couldn't see anything wrong in the xrays. I've been without a fill for about 2 months and have lost ground in my weight loss efforts. I've got an appointment to follow up with the Dr. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and has words of wisdom? With appreciation, Wrennbird

My throat felt the same way starting last week so I went to an Ear Nose and Throat doctor and he put a camera down my nose to look at it and he said that it was very red and that he thought it was just from the acid in my stomach traveling up and causing it to be swollen. He wants me to take two Nexium a day and see if that helps

Thanks, Bobbie155. I'll ask my Dr. about that - although I didn't associate it with acid when it was happening. Don't envy you the camera down the nose. I had a hard enough time doing the acid reflux test prior to surgery.
