So my insurance approved my surgery. I have the chest xray, blood work and upper GI to do, i have that all scheduled for Aug.4th. How long after your appointment with your MD did some of you wait to actually have the surgery? I'm soo excited. I wish it was tomorrow.

If your surgeon requires a pre op diet then you should get that started now, and you should be able to call ur surgeons office and the surgery scheduled. I had mine scheduled before all my test, also your surgery has to be within 30 days of you EKG, so I was told, Looks like you might become a August Bandit too. Good luck.

From my first phone call to the surgeon to set up my consultation until the day of surgery was about 3 weeks. It was really quick and luckily, my surgeon didn't require me to do a preop diet. Actually, they could've done my surgery on July 3rd instead of the 14th, but I coudn't do my preop for it, because I was teaching summer school. It seems it all depends on your insurance, really. If you don't have to jump through hoops, and have a short or no preop diet, then it can be really quick. Good luck!

Who is your insurance with Crzytchr? I heard it could take up to 90 days to get approved. Thanks

I have insurance and from my phone call to the surgeon to the surgery date was less than a month. I was really motivated though and did all my preop in one day and stayed on top of the insurance company. Also, it depends on your surgeons schedule. My surgeon had a cancellation on my surgery day and worked me in.

For me, seminar to surgery was 4 weeks (including all the pretests etc) Your speed now depends on how busy your surgeon's office is!

I have BCBS LA, but it really depends more on your employer/group plan than the actual insurance company. Mine required weight history and some co-morbities and that was it. I think approval from them took 1 day. It also helps if you have an experienced person in the surgeon's office working your file.

I went for my first appointment in March 2009, however, I had already completed the six month supervised diet with phentermine and ali with my primary doctor, along with the sleep study and everything, but for what ever reason couldn't get a hold of anyone for my nutritional consult or psych exam near me right away so I put it off and thought I could lose weight on my own... wrong...

well June 20th 2009, I called around got my psych and nutrition appointment for the 29th and july 1st, paperwork sent to insurance on july 10th initially for Gastric bypass, then denied told only band covered... resubmitted for band on July 17th, Approved July 21st, surgery scheduled August 4th due to surgeon on vacation last week in July. it was all in all pretty quick, once I got my butt in gear.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
