Newby

Hey everyone!

I'm a 21 year old recent college grad who has been struggling with my weight since I was 5, and have opted to get the lap-band surgery. I get banded on May 27, 2009 in just 12 days and I'm excited and nervous about how my life will change. At my highest, I weighed 231 lbs. I'm 5'4" and am at a size 16/18 womens. My goal is 145 lbs. which will hopefully aid in getting rid of all my weight related health problems. I'll let you know how it goes :)

Good luck. My daughter had hers done last year (she's 37 now), but also struggled with her weight just like you. I know the band has been around for quite some time but she always felt like she should be able to do it on her own. Her highest weight was 275, size 22/24, 5-10 height. The change in her life has been mind boggling. She's now a size 8 (going for plastic surgery next month). In hindsight, as her mother, if this had been around when she was 21, I would have agreed and supported her in a heart beat.

I'm having mine done June 1 with her incredible support.

Good luck to you on your journey. It will not always be easy but will always be worth it!!

Good Luck! Keep us posted. I am a newby too. I have my Endoscopy on the 28th and Psyc. Eval on June 5th. I should be banded sometime in June or July...but not sure of a date!

Thank you all for your support! I'm doing ok on the pre-op diet. I definitely cheated a couple times because I've been extremely hungry, so I'm trying my hardest to stay on track. 8 days til surgery! I'll let you know how it goes!

I'm right there with you. Day 2 of two-week pre-op. I've been okay with the liquid part. Woke up with a headache this morning. So probably didn't get enough Protein. Plus, if I take in too much sodium it causes headaches and I think the tomato Soup may have done it.

Good luck!!!
