Newbie banded 4/4/09

Hello

I'm a newbie banded 4/4/09.

Any idea when I should start excercising?

I do a little walking here and there, but not sure when to really start excercising.

my surgeon said walking would not hurt right after surgery but any heavy lifting would have to wait until 6 weeks after surgery. I would say as long as it's low impact and not weights , whenever you are feeling better would probably be fine.

Was advised no excersise post op here for 4 weeks other than general moving around and walking. Lifting a definate no no and care to be taken bending

And welcome to Lapband Land , hope all is well with you

Hi there everyone,

Yep, my doctor has given similar instruction to my partner who was banded yesterday. Walking is fine - he suggested walking 5 mins the first day, increasing by 5 minutes per day until you get to 30mins/day and then continuing with that as a minimum (he suggested a target 10,000 steps/day). As per BrockBabe's advice, he also advised no heavy lifting for 6 weeks.

In case you might be interested there's a forum for all of us being banded in April HERE and we've added you to the list of April bandsters HERE.
