Amanda,

I was in pain with gas for several days. The reason for this was I didn't walk enough. I came home a laid down and rested too long. Gas X, and supositories were the only thing that helped, besides walking. Good luck.

I had gas for a couple of weeks as well as shoulder tip pain. Nothing much helped but it did subside each day that passed. Walking helps ease it a bit.

Good Luck

Mine lasted about 2 1/2 weeks and then "boom" one morning totally gone. Haven't had a bit of real problem since. Try laying on your chest & knees with butt in the air (you can stretch your arms out in fron of you).

This position moves the gas so that you can pass it.

A heating pad really helped me at night along with some benedryl. It was the only way I could get a good night's rest. I used those things for about 1 1/2 weeks.

Hope you feel better. Soon...you will: )

walk, walk, walk.

When you feel your shoulder starting to ache (from gas pains) take a small walk in your neighborhood (if possible).

Also, you may want to ask your surgeon if you can take something to ease your tummy discomfort. I remember having alot of uncomfortableness for the first couple of days. I started chewing a pepcid a/c in the morning and at night - it helped tremendously! BUT ask your doctor first before taking ANYTHING!

Have you had a BM yet? This may also be another reason for a tummy ache.

Good luck, and welcome to the Bandwagon!

Amanda,

Hi, I had my surgery with a hiatal hernia repair also on June 6, 08. I thought I was going to die on the third day. The gas was so bad, I was having dry heaves from the gas. My husband was going to take me to the hospital. I spoke with the nutritionist the next day and she told me to try glycerin suppositories. With the two week slim fast and then after surgery just liquids, I had nothing to push the gas out. It was a GOD send. I immediately was able to pass the gas and felt such relief. I had tried to walk, lie on my stomach, etc... So try this and keep taking your gas x. I hope this works for you. Good luck, I am only going on 3 weeks, but regret nothing.
