What makes you think this is a new surgery? It has a long history and not a good one.

No quality or skilled surgeon with a good rep even DOES this surgery. There are a couple of US surgeons who make it sound like they are unique in that they can do this procedure. Truth is, they are kinda laughing stocks of the medical community because the CHOOSE to do this surgery.

If 99.9% of WLS surgeons refuse to do this surgery because it simply isn't safe for patients, what does that make the 0.1% that do the procedure?

This is a dangerous procedure that better surgeons wrote off many years ago. Think about it, when the #1 MGB surgeon resorts to using you tube for the bulk of his advertising........

Here's a link about this surgery:

Is The Mini Gastric Bypass The Ideal Weight Loss Solution?

I'm going to move this thread to the "Other surgeries" section, since it's not about the Lap-band.

I actually downloaded and read the brochure from the MGB web site because I am trying to learn about all options.

Wow. Just WOW.

The number of spelling and grammatical errors in the document is telling. Also, there are missing words and phrases. It is a difficult read in that regard.

Understanding that not everyone is a spelling/grammar god, come ON! At least pay someone else to copy edit your document before putting it out there for the world to see. If his surgery technique is anything like his writing, I'd rather be FAT than to let this guy get his mitts on me.

I am wondering if this entire website was written in a language other than English and run through a translator. It speaks of "doze apnea" and "kind 2 diabetes" .....

And I am "less likely to retrieve the lost heaviness over time" than a gastric bypass patient.....ok!

Does not instill me with confidence.

The procedure is note widely used and has many risks. Also most of these doctors require cash payment as insurance providers do not reconize it.

Dated information. The MGB is a different operation from the old Morris loop operation, which WAS not a great wls and is rarely performed today. The MGB was developed by Dr. Rutledge and is a fast, laproscopic op performed by a few docs in the USA but many docs in Europe and abroad. It has great results and little regain. The op is reversible and Revisable if necessary. After some 8 years of research, I am choosing this operation.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
