Post-Op Food Suggestions

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

My surgery is scheduled for March 12th and I just want to make sure I have everything ready!

I will be on a clear liquid diet the first two days and then a liquids diet (anything that can fit thru a straw) for a week. The next couple of weeks then begin with mushy foods...

I have read that some have blended things like veggie Soup during the liquids portion... Do you have any other suggestions of things that helped you through those times?

Thanks!!

Campbell's creamed Soup at hand was a big thing for me. V8 has a couple of creamed Soups out too. The butternut squash was very tasty. Cup o soup Tomato and cream of chicken were okay. Fiber one yogurt is the very best especially key lime pie and I normally hate yogurt. Atkins Protein Shakes were well tolerated by me. Lots of good flavors like mocha and caramel. Kellog's K20 ice tea and beef/chicken boullion granules (not boullion cubes) for broth mixed with beneprotein powder. The obvious sugar free puddings. This has been my life for nearly three weeks now. Two weeks pre-op and this week post-op. Can't wait to bite into something with substance.

sugar free popsicles really did the trick for me! also i did alot of broth for the 2 weeks after post op. idk if you like the Protein Shakes, i think i am allergic to them, so i didnt get Protein for the whole 2 weeks. i found these drinks that are called Isopure, and they have 40 grams of protein in each bottle. SUPER helpful. they almost taste like gatorade! i am now on the mushy stage, and i get lean cuisine "meatloaf" and i eat the mashed potatoes out of it. they are super low fat and taste delicious! good luck on your surgery!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
