scars: when can i start treating them post op?

i was banded 4 days ago and i'm curious when i should start putting vitamin e oil on them. i don't want to do it do soon. they're hard and obviously not healed yet so i'll wait a while before treating them. when did start treating them (vitamin e, mederma, other scar fading tricks)?

Your safest course is to ask your surgeon when it's safe. he'll know for sure.

My surgeon told me I could start after my first fill - that was at 5/6 weeks. I don't think that getting a jumpstart on it quicker helps any. I've been treating mine for a month or so, and they're much softer anyway. I'm 3 months out.

Definitely wait for them to heal, and ask your surgeon.

I was told I could start treating them as soon as the steri strips fell off on their own. This is usually around week 2.

I also was told i could start treating them once the steri-strips came off. I highly recomend Mederma for scars, it really did live up to everything it claims.
