Not all surgeons put straws on the "do not" list.

You might ask yours; I can only assume it's because there is air in the straw and when you use one you swallow all that extra air, each time...it can exacerbate gas and so on.

I was never given this restriction.

I did hear about the gas thing. Now that I have been banded for awhile and am not on strict weight loss mode, I never have a problem. I don't like to drink cold drinks without a straw.

I too use a straw now. I didn't the first month or two post op, but once I'd healed and the issues from that settled down, I went back to my straws! :redface:
