Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!

I'm not one to judge others without knowing them/all the facts, but this one burned me!!! I watched the announcements of the Octuplets being born, and thought; well it must have happened due to follicle stimulation because no Dr. would do invitro with 8 or more embryos. Yesterday I watched as the experts gave their opinions with the same conclusion I came to. There was no way any of them would have done invitro with that many eggs and they would turn someone away who wanted that, so they also felt it must have been egg stimulation that caused this.

Now this morning I learn that the mother, who is currently living at home with her mother, already has six children (we know nothing about the father)!!!! And here's the kicker...it WAS invitro!!!! Holy Cow!!! I get that there are crazy people out there, so I'm writing the mom off as nuts, but what the heck happened to regulating and having rules about ethics for this for the Drs.??!! What's next...cloning? Know that I have family members and friends that have been helped by fertility specialists, so I know the benefit in using one, but this guy crossed the line. Just MO.

First 2 octuplets have wild homecoming

Crush of photographers gather on cul-de-sac where mom will raise 14 kids

Okay, that home coming was way too scary and dangerous. The babies are adorable. I am so glad the nurses are there to help.

Haha! I just got this picture in an email. It was taken at the Mardi Gras...

That is TOO funny.

Pattygreen, it is unlikely that folks here don't like you because you are a Christian; afterall, the vast majority of Americans are.... They simply don't like you because you are a know-it-all and pompass/pompous to boot. In brief, it is the attitude which you persist in displaying that turns folks here off your message. McLuhan once said that that "the medium was the message," and you, my dear woman, have failed utterly in getting your Christ's message across.[/

FYI, I am not trying to get any message across here. Therefore, I haven't failed at anything. You have made your decision about whether you will live for God or not and that's your choice and your right to make any way you choose. I am simply being who I am. If God is spoken of in my posts, it is because He is part of who I am. If anyone doesn't like me because of that, well, too bad for them.

kat, Let me make something clear to you. I do NOT try to relate myself to her. I am nothing like her at all. Except that I , too, have a large family. I am not a self centered person nor would I ever consider having any children without being married or without them having a father in their lives, or the means to support them. So, to me, what's 'sad' is that you would believe I think I want to be like her.

I can understand her, though. Maybe after she put her embryos in a dish and she contemplated that they would be destroyed if not used, she decided to use them rather than destroy them. That would put her in a tough spot spiritually. For to destroy the embryos would mean murder to her (as it does to me also). So, if she chose to implant them all for that reason, then I support that. She is trusting God to take care of them because she did the right thing (in Gods eyes) by not killing them. For some who wouldn't believe that way, it would be hard for them to comprehend not choosing a form of abortion over life, no matter how difficult it might be to have the babies, but that's the way most prolifers feel. ( Christians believe that God places a soul into every fertilized egg at the second of conception.)She attends a christian church and says she believes in God.

The first 2 were sent home as healthy babies, the report states. So I wonder why the need of two nurses. When my premie grandson came home from the hosp., he came home as a healthy baby also, and was not in need of an RN. I saw the video of the homecoming, and those 2 babies looked great. Most premies who come home from the hospital don't need RNs to care for them at home. If they did, they would usually stay in the hospital until they are not in need of a nurses care, or they would have a visiting nurse come occasionally. I think that if there wasn't so much drama over them, they wouldn't even be there with her.

My questioning the RN thing is because their fees can be $40./hr. as compared to a HHA @ $8-10./hr. Don't get on me about HHAs being trained to care for premies. Their mother was told what to do to care for them, and so can a HHA. And besides, HEALTHY premies don't need nurses at home.

So possibly the babies are not as healthy as we are being led to believe. The more likely fact is, that they have seen how her older 6 act, seen how she does not interact with them, and finally they KNOW the scrutiny this case is under and are covering their asses.

That way if one of the babies is injured, or neglected, they cannot be come back on for not providing the best.

I have seen Mom with the older kids, and what it reminds me of is like when you put say one year olds in a room together. They do not play together, they play in the same space, and want the same toys, but they do not interact with one another yet, they simply do not have the social skills yet to do so. She holds them against their will, and says things to them that they do not even blink in response to. Some sort of disassociative disorder maybe---I am no expert, just discussing what I see.

Patty I say you relate to her, because you ALWAYS tell us why she does things, how she feels, and it is always because you or your children did or felt the same. At least that is how I read your posts.

And the loving God I believe in, would never have punished her for donating those embryos to a couple who could not create their own.

To ME that would have been the loving response as to what to do with the embryos, not bring another child--and she knew damn good and well it would likely be more---into the world that she could not care for.

I agree that the preemies Mom was likely told what to do with them, but she has exhibited to them, that she does not always do as she is taught or told. They had to do something, and in this case something EXTREME to protect these babies, from the environment they are being brought home into.

Our healthy preemie granddaughter went home with her Mommy AND Daddy without nurses as well. She went home to a nice nursery, and a quiet calm atmosphere, same as she had at the hospital. There was not 6 loud and often angry older children, some of whom are totally out of control, as well as another infant, ALL needing and deserving of care. There was one baby and 2 adults minimally at all times, not counting the visits and help with meals and such that loving family and friends provided. She, as a SINGLE Mom, took home 2 preemies, with the chaos you always see in her home, with the older 6 kids.

Once again, you compare----and this is a much more drastic comparison than Apples and Oranges. It is like comparing Apples and Donuts. Yeah they are both kinda round.......

If God is spoken of in my posts, it is because He is part of who I am.

Well, I HEAR God mentioned a lot from you, but He certainly doesn't shine through you. He's part of your vocabulary and nothing more.

And here you were disputing the $135,000 a month. :tt2:

Wow...that's just crazy. The report said the reporters were creating a dangerous situation for the babies. They were said to be very aggressive in trying to get photos of the babies and Gloria Allred is concerned that no more nurses will want to come to the home to help care for the children.

Octopussy has created a circus that she cannot handle - I'm willing to be she didn't foresee this, but I also bet she's eating up the attention and notoriety. :tt2:

At least with the attention, the babies may get the care they deserve. Without the attention and help she's getting because of it, what would be happening to the kids - or Octo's parents, for that matter.

Thanks for the video, Beth.

That is just crazy and uncomfortable. I can't imagine the circus atmosphere is good for any of those children.
