Liquid Diet

My doctor wants me to loose 5 percent of my weight. When my wife had the band installed in Nov. 08, I had the doctor weigh me. I weighed 340. I decided then to start a diet. I'm having surgery April 6 09, and I wegh 302 with over 2 months left before surgery. Should I do the strict liquid diet or should I keep doing what I'm doing? I have already lost about 11 percent of my weight.

I would ask your doctor.

My guess is that if your dieting and your low carbing, then it probably doesn't much matter except for the day before, when you are on clear liquid only.

But I also believe that the more you shrink your liver the less gas they tend to use, in order to be able to move things around and access your stomach, which means less gas pain.

I know my doctor even said, he used very little gas on me, because my liver was shrunk up so nice. And I did have almost no gas pain post op.

I too wuld ask your doc, they are the only ones who knows best for you, i too dont have much gas pain & virtually none in the shoulders, & the surgeon told me they were very pleased with my liver & knew i had stuck to the pre op diet

you are doing great with the weight loss..well done..the more you can lose the better you should feel after surgery
