Here Comes The Band Man

Hi all, I am a new member from Murfreesboro, TN. Had my Lap-Band surgery on December 17, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. Dr. George Eckles is my surgeon. Did my two week followup last week and all seems to be working 'as advertised'.

My biggest 'holdup' is overcoming that 'loss' of being able to eat the foods I've enjoyed so much over the years (fried stuff, breads and the like). It's gotten better over the past few days, but I still have some of those cravings from time to time.

I am curious as to how long some of you have had to deal with pain after surgery? I am over two weeks post-op and the pain in my side fluctuates from tolerable to excruciating, especially when I stand up at first.

All in all, I have no regrets, but getting over this initial 'hump' of adjusting my diet and so forth is a bit challenging.

Anyway, I am happy to be here in the group

Hi matt, congrats on your banding, can you not up your pain meds when you are in a lot of pain ?..they say the more you walk about is suppose to get rid of the gas & the less you will feel stiff & pain free almost?

The pain has gotten slightly worse over this past weekend. I fell down (went boom) at a party on Sunday, which I think aggravated my pain even more. A visit with the doctor today found I don't have any infection in the incision areas, more likely just some muscle inflammation. The doc said to take some ibuprofen after my meals and that should ease the pain a bit.

At least I've lost another 3 lbs this past week (yay!)

Welcome Matt!

Sorry for your pain and for your little accident. Hope things are getting better. Congrats on the loss!
