Recently Banded -Onward to Brighter Days

Hi my name is Wanda. I am a Chicago teacher that made the decision to get banded after struggling to control my blood pressure for four years.

I was banded Dec 5th by Dr. Ryan Headly at MacNeal Hospital in Illinois. I was told that my surgery was text book. It is one of the best things that I have ever done for myself.

My pre-opt weight was 263. I am down to148. I didn't get results like this when I worked out with a personal trainer and danced twice a week. I look forward to brighter days. I am excited about sharing this journey with all of you as I know that there is so much that we can learn from one another. Besides banders need to support one another.

Welcome to LapBandTalk!

Hi my name is Eva and I teach in Chicago also. I looked into the procedure last year and have been afraid of the surgery.

I was wondering if you teach in Chicago Public Schools. I hope this is not too personal but did your insurance cover some of the costs?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Eva,

Actually, if you work for CPS, your lap band surgery will be completely covered as long as you meet the criteria to be approved for the surgery. The only out of pocket expenses will be your co-pay's with each visit.

Oops!!! That was a typo. I meant to write that I started at 263 and I down to 248. I never even noticed the error. Thank you.

Hi

Thanks for letting me know. I am considering using the same doctor that you used. Would you recommend him?

Hi Eva,

Yes, I would not only recommend Dr. Headly but the MacNeal hospital team as well. Their level of warmth and professionalism made the experience wonderful. I really have no complaints.

He is not performing the surgery anymore.
