Which protein shakes taste good?

Hi,

I am schedule to be banded on 1/07/2009 and have been thinking that I should start purchasing a Protein shake. I have no idea which one to buy or where to start. I know my nutritionist did provide a list but I rather learn from you guys.

Thanks

Hi

I was just banded Tuesday of this week. I feel really good so far. But I have a found that the Boost protein drinks are really good. They have 15 grams od protein and only 8 oz in the drink. Plus they have serveral vitamins in it. I think they are very tasty. Hope this helps.

My favorite right now is Slim Fast High Protein for 15g. I like how it is really creamy like a milk shake. I also like EAS carbcontrol 17g and I also drank Isopure 40g. I think that some protein drinks are better than others but I think it takes some getting used to the taste.

I USE UNJURY WHICH YOU HAVE TO ORDER ONLINE BUT IT IS THE ONLY ONE THAT i HAVE FOUND THAT DOESNT HAVE A HEAVY WHEY SMELL OR TASTE. iT COMES IN VANILLA, CHOCLATE, UNFLAVORED, CHICKEN SOUP FLAVOR, AND STRAWBERRY SORBET. MIXES WELL WITH EVERYTHING.

I was banded 8 days ago and I have not found any shakes that I like. Is there any other liquid protein other than the shakes

Ive used a couple of different brands and dont like any plain shakes. Ive been using add in flavors to make them tasty.

I like the Slimfast High Protein myself. However, you may want to up your protein grams per drink. Try visiting the vitamin/nutrition store. I've been using Isopure which has 50 grams per 2 scoop serving. I just use one scoop, blend with a Yoplait Fiber one (fiber plus?) yogurt and about 6 ounces of skim milk. I think it comes to about 250 calories, but I only need 2 per day (lunch and dinner) to meet my protein requirements, plus some.

I've also come up with a new favorite...

I'm allowed to have cream of wheat as long as it's pourable. I mix up my cream of wheat (with water), add a scoop of chocolate Muscle Milk (16 grams protein), cool it down with a bit of skim milk and mix in a Splenda. It's almost like a thick hot chocolate. Well.. maybe that's a stretch, but it's not a bad way to get your protein in.

I was banded in June of 08 and one of my favorite things is Chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with greek yogurt, 2 splendas, a bananna, and skim milk. Mix it up in the blender with some ice and you're good to go. It's very good

I like Slimfast Low Carb Chocolate and Atkins Advantage Milk Chocolate. The Atkins Advantage dark chocolate is good too. The smell of unjury grossed me out. If you are a smell person you might want to avoid unjury

I like EAS (any flavor) and Atkins, They(Atkins) have a lot of flavors to choose from. Both are very low in carbs and you can get them at walmart.

I personally like the muscle milk powder. I think the pre-made bottles are just too think and I have a hard time with those. But the chocolate is really my favorite

I'm pre-band, but trying a variety of Protein drinks in prep---and really like Isopure. It's a bottled clear fruity whey Protein Drink.

Get it good and cold, and drink it from a sports bottle. (It smells kind of weird, but you can totally bypass this with the right bottle.) It's my hands-down favorite, compared to all of the Atkins, Myoplex, EAS Advantedge, etc. shakes., though some of those are nice, too.

A 20-ounce bottle has 40 grams of protein, 0 carb and 0 fat. It's probably not the best choice for complete post-op nutrition (a little good-quality carb and fat is wise), but as a supplement, I think it's great.
