    • No, never have had problems with acid reflux
    • Yes, but had it prior to my lap band surgery
    • Yes, have had problems only after surgery
    • Yes, had/have GERD and had my band removed due to it

I was curious as to how many have had problems with acid reflux or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) post-surgery. I'm particularly interested in those that never had issues prior to lap band surgery. Thanks Nancy:smile:

I have been having problems lately. I had GERD before surgery. I didn't have a problem until about a couple weeks ago after getting a fill, it came back the tighter I got. The Dr. took a little out today and I just ate something spicy and I can fill the heart burn. But I am hoping its just because of irritation.

I NEVER had issues with any sort of acid reflux/heartburn anything...i'm still not even sure what heartburn is.

Sometimes i wake up out of a dead sleep and all of a sudden i'll have to throw up...i don't throw anything up but clear liquid stuff...it happens maybe every other week. after the first couple of time i told my doctor and he told me to start taking xantac at night before bed. I've noticed spicey stuff does it so i've stopped eating it.

On monday I have no idea what I ate but i woke up in such horrible pain and was throwing up for over an hour...nothing but clear liquid stuff and it was the most awful tasting stuff ever!! when i can finally get myself to stop then my stomach burns and is so uncomfortable.

The doctor thinks it's acid...my throat feels like i have a sore throat since throwing up on monday. He called in a prescription antacid that i have to take 2 times a day now to see if that helps. otherwise he wants to take some out of band =(

That doesn't sound so good, I know that the band can cause acid reflux in people and am seeing a specialist on Friday to see what issues I have now that mine has been removed. I suppose it happens to some people and not all of course but yours definitely needs to be treated. I hope it gets better once you get some fill removed but mine never got any better even without any fill so good luck to you Nancy.

I got it only after banding when I have more restriction. It goes away completely if I keep my band less filled. I never had a problem pre-banding.

You didn't leave an option for "had it before surgery but no longer have it afterward"

Sorry you're right you caught me, I don't know how to change it though. But it's good to have your information thanks Nancy.:blushing:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
