First & Second Fills ????

I just had my lap band on 10-10-08 and I have an appointment on 11-22-08 for my first fill. I am eating solid food no problem and have no restriction. Does anyone know if getting a second fill on Dec. 1st will be to soon?

Thanks

Yep, my doc likes 4 weeks to elapse between fills. I would like to remind our poster that it may take a number of fills before the sweet spot is found. It took me 4 tries.

A week later? Hmmm...I'd say yes, too.

Inamed, makers of the Lapband system, have guidelines that say the first fill is 6 weeks after and then the next 4 weeks later.

But, those are just guidelines. Any doctor can do his/her own thing.

If I were you, I'd make the appointment for the 4 week mark.

And don't worry about dieting right now. Enjoy your food and get prepared for restriction.

I had my surgery 9-28-08 and had my first fill on Halloween. Didn't have restriction and called my doctor's office and they told me to come back in this week which I did to get my second fill. So I guess it depends on each doctor. I hope I get restriction this time. Too early to know.

I got my first fill 11/20. I was banded on 10/8. Do you notice if you have restriction right away? Does it take a few days? I am still so new at this. :smile2:

Sem1126- Meaning that we are able to eat normally, human portion as opposed to lap band portion. Check out the post of what lap banders with restriction usually eat daily. It's like half a lean cuisine or barely an apple for a meal! That's a lap banders dream!

I just got my second fill 3/3/09 and I was feeling some amazing restriction. I was so happy. And I have had two really large fills, but now I am not feeling anything like I was just two days ago... :)(

Bandster hell is not just the couple weeks after surgery, it is every second that goes by until you finally get that special fill. Waiting for your surgery to be approved, the 10 day diet, and the surgery are all a walk in the park compared to this. At least I got a feeling for what real restriction feels like. Now I will just have to get another fill I guess to truly get me there. Many have said that it can take a week or so before you can tell for sure. I am hopeful that is what happens for me. *sigh*

  • 2 weeks later...

Just got my second fill. I think it was too much. It was two days ago and I have been "burping" like crazy and "PBing" several time last evening and today. I am having trouble keeping just about everything down since the fill--even water. Warm soup has gone down the best. Unfortunately, I live quite far from the doctor's office, and he has limited office hours that I can not make it back to this week. I am hoping it gets better because I don't want to have to visit the ER to have some withdrawn. Plus I am afraid that too much will be taken out, so I am trying to tough this out thinking it will get better in a few days.:)

i have had only fill and it seems like i can eat anything. I may not can eat as much but i can eat anything.

  • 4 weeks later...

I had my first fill at my 2 week post-op (2cc's) and my second fill 3 weeks later (2cc's). I had pretty good restriction with my first fill and really having it with this second fill. Not having trouble with drinking but after about 2 tablespoons of food I'm done. Sometimes I can get a little more in if I stand up and eat. I haven't had any trouble with pudding so if I feel a little light headed I have that for a snack. It's sad when you really want to eat that 2 oz of meat and you can't!

Really depends on you and your doctor...my schedule so far has been:

Surgery 1-7-10

1st Fill - 4 weeks later (2.5cc in at surgery, went up to 4.5cc)

2nd Fill - 3 weeks later (4cc in band, up to 5cc)

3rd Fill - 9 days later (up to 7cc in a 14cc band)

4th Fill - scheduled for 12 days from now

My 3rd fill was today (Saturday), and wasn't scheduled until next Wednesday...he let me come in early because I still, obviously, had no restriction. So, my doctor's pretty liberal with the fills - he listens to his patient and agrees to let me get fills as needed.
