Gadgetlady, The Watcher, and all in between...

OK, we have about 5 debates going on about the presidential elections, and two things are really coming out of it all:

One: We have some sharp divisions in this group as far as opinions go.

Two: On November 4th, either McCain or Obama will be elected president.

My question: With the various viewpoints, what will we do.

To those on the right (middle right, far right, etc) - what will you do if Barack Obama becomes president?

To those on the left (middle left, far left, etc) - what will you do if John McCain becomes president?

To all: What can we do to gain some unity in our country.

Note that, no matter what, there will be politicians, judges, reporters, bloggers, etc., who will make waves long after the election (saying this, people are still ranting about the 2000 elections).

But it is up to the individuals at the grass roots to make unity. So the question: How can we get there?

Of course, I'm pretty much an idiot, so you really can't go wrong by doing the opposite of what I do...

Hey, you said it, not me.

Although it may have suppressing effects at first, Caffeine is an appetite stimulant. It can cause an increase in cortisol levels which can cause the body to crave sweets. It can also contribute to insulin resistance.

Okay, THAT I understand!

I always noticed the appetite suppressing part of caffeine but never noticed the stimulant part. Probably wasn't paying attention.

Have you also read about the possibility of Diet Coke actually making folks eat more? I'd been addicted to Diet Coke since 1989. Eek!!! Blame the DC and my anti-depressants certainly not my frequent hand to mouth activity!!!

And, most of your caffeinated drinks are high in calories, besides just plain black coffee.

Sounds fair to me!

I can't do plain black coffee. I use powdered creamer and sweet-n-low. Coffee is something I can give up. I don't need it like some people do (hubby being one of them!).

I gave up cigarettes (unrelated to band), diet sodas and last but certainly not least--gluttony. I pity the fool that tries to take away my coffee. [channeling Mr. T]

The one thing I can't seem to give up is salt. It would probably help my blood pressure, but I just can't seem to do it. All of this low calorie, low fat, high carb food needs SALT!

How about Mrs. Dash, a salt substitute, or low-sodium salt? I went to the low-sodium salt and almost don't notice a difference.

Hmm..it has been awhile since I tried that. I will have to give it a shot again.

so i got an idea from another bandster....take your left over coffee & put in ice trays - freeze.

when i do my shake (on choc/cheese cake kick now) - rather than the avg ice cube - i used the iced coffee cubes for the extra kick / caffeine...

that is if your a coffee lover like me..

There is a cheesecake flavored shake? What is this and where can get 12 of them?

i make it babygrl - 1 scoop of muscle milk choc protein / 8oz skim milk / 2tsp of SF-FF jello cheesecake pudding / ice cubes & blend.

hubby likes to take his EAS strawberry carb control shake and add the cheescake pudding & fresh strawberries...i prefer chocolate.

**i'm sure you can use any protein powder & however much more of the pudding mixture you want**

donna - i'm w/you about my coffee.

So I went to the grocery store today and they had ONE cheesecake pudding mix - bitter!!!

Uh, can you please start dropping your G's? You're from the south.....the correct pronunciation is "puddin". Thanks.
