Official Date!

Hello everyone, I mentioned in the intro forum I finally have my approval from my insurance United Healthcare. My surgery date is Dec 4. It would have been sooner but unable to get off from work and have to wait until school is almost over for the term.

But that being said...my dr said I have to lose 10 lbs before surgery so I have to go on a liquid diet on Nov 20.

Is that so my body gets used to the liquids and not eating? I know I should have asked that question to the nurse but was so stunned.

This is all new to me.

Nina

Congrats!! I just got my date as December 3rd.

I guess its liquids for Thanksgiving and mushies for the hOlidays for us!

We can do it and know we are not in it alone.

Hi Nina, congrats on your upcoming surgery. I don't have my band yet. However, when I attended the mandatory seminar at the hospital that I am to have my surgery with, they said that the reason you have to go on the liquid diet is to shrink your liver. Since the liver sits on top of the stomach they want it out of the way as much as possible for surgery. Good luck to you and I hope I helped answer your question.
