When were you cleared to EXCERCISE!

Hello bandsters, when were you cleared to excercise (other than walking which I know is right away)?

I think mine is 6 weeks but I've seen people on the board who have been excercising as early as 4 weeks post op. I am going to do what my Doc says but the one thing that I like about these boards is that you can see how every doc does the same thing differently.

I just think if doc says wait 6 wks that there must be a reason like your body is still healing. Please share with me what you know and think.:)

I was cleared at 4 weeks ( with no abdominal exercises)

I was cleared at 4 weeks for water aerobics and that was so my incisions would heal before I got back in the pool. I would not do anything like riding a bike though. When I went in for my 3rd fill, my port had flipped and I had to go back to surgery to have it repositioned. I rode a stationary bike a little before 4 weeks, I am not sure what caused the flip, but I will wait 8 weeks before doing that again. Now I am out of water aerobics again for 3 more weeks. I do walk though.

Hey Ninawoo - mine was walk - walk - walk on the second day after surgery - but then no works until after 4 weeks.

Mine said walk immediately but wait to 2 weeks to go back to the gym. Avoid weight bearing exercises for as long as you aren't supposed to lift things (in my case 2 months)
