Pre-op Plan

My first post and question. My surgery is scheduled for Oct 24. I was told at the pre-op class to eat low carbohydrates, high protein for two weeks prior to the surgery. On the posts I see that people talk about a liquid diet for two weeks before. Did I misunderstand? I thought the liquid diet was for after.

Many doctors give very detailed diet plans prior to surgery, but some don't. The diets vary from a total liquid diet to mixed liquids and low carb/high protein meals. Some don't give any sort of pre-op diet plan. If you're not sure about what your doctor wants, you should call to verify or check the information that you've gotten from his/her office. It's very important to follow your doctor's recommendations, so that you have a safe surgery.

Welcome!!!

The pre-op and post-op diets vary from doctor to doctor. Most are on liquids but not all. Your dietician should have been specific enough that you do not doubt exactly what and how much you are supposed to eat. If you are not 100% sure, give them a call.
