Hello everyone, I remember reading that so many people went back to work after three or four day's. I don't know what kind of people they can be. I could not go back after a week because of pain but as long as I took my pain meds I was fine. Today I decided that I would start to whin myself off of my pain meds from taking them every six hours. I took the meds about 10 this morning and I waited all day to take more and now it's 9:48 and I am really hurting at my port area and under the arm on the port side.:frown:

Am I trying to whin myself too early?

Has anyone experienced this before?

How many days does most people take their pain meds?

I don't see my doctor until the 23rd and I was banded on Sept.8th.

I didn't take any pain meds...except some liquid tylenol the first 24 hours. Just OTC stuff. It hurt some but I just ignored it. I didn't want to be groggy and sleepy. It was just a personal choice I made. I'd think at 7 days out you shouldn't be hurting so much any more. My doc didn't even give me enough for that long! I pulled out the "on Q" pain thingie he had placed as soon as I got home. Maybe you could try some liquid tylenol instead of the high test stuff?

You know, I moved around A LOT from the start, too...slept on my side the first night and tummy the next. It was a little sore, but it prevents adhesions (scar tissue that forms) Maybe that helped me. I don't know.

But pain is what the person feeling it says it is. If you hurt, you hurt. If you're worried, call your doc tomorrow and see what they say!

Well restlessmonkey, I did okay most of today but then this evening is when I started hurting just in my port area. I actually thought the pain should be subsided by now. I was just wondering if I was trying to get up and move around to soon maybe that had something to do with it. I did not pick anything up I just did a little walking around the house then sat awhile.

Thanks for responding I also want to mention that restlessmonkey you are the ultimate trooper. I guess I will keep in touch and get some of your motivation.

NinaWoo I'm just stubborn is all! LOL

If you have been pretty sedentary, the moving around may be gas! If so, that's good. It will need to dissipate. Don't take tylenol with your pain meds...but you may want to try it for "during the day" tomorrow and see if that doesn't take the edge off. Good luck! It will all be behind you soon!

I was banded on Sept 11th. Saturday was by far my worst pain day. By mid afternoon I had read so many great responses on this website that I decided to walk, walk, walk. I forced myself to get up off the couch every hour and walk around the inside of the house. When I woke up Sunday morning, I felt so much better. Got dressed, went to church, went to the movies with a bunch of girls and basically just moved all day long. I went back to work today (I have a desk job) and I feel great! I really think the key to all of the pain is to move around as much as you can. And last night I slept on my stomach with no trouble at all. I hope you are feeling better. If you dont get better after walking, I would consider calling the doc.

Well it sounds like you are recovering like I did. I had my surgery on August 6th and it was about a week ago that I was finally able to sleep on my stomach. I took my paid meds for well over a week and the doctor had me get a refill just in case. I did try to not take the meds as much but later on in the day I was in a lot of pain. Hopefully it won't take you that long to recover but I wanted to you know that there are a few of us out there that just don't bounce back quickly.

Thanks Celnun, I just woke up and I feel great so far. I might actually try to get out and walk on my street at least twice and maybe that will keep me in good spirits and pain free.

Restlessmonkey I had not thought that maybe that pain could be gas because I really thought that I was letting it out and because pain was not in my chest like I expected, I thought that the pain was something else (that's something to think about). Alright everyone try to have a blessed day and I will keep in touch. Thanks

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
