Implanon?

Hi everyone...I was wondering... Has anyone else used the birth control inplant called Implanon? I had it put in back in July and I was wondering if anyone else used it while being banded.

I've never heard of it...I am sorry. But I am sure someone will answer and help you.

I don't have it, I have an IUD, but when I asked my doctor if I needed to have my IUD removed prior to surgery (since mine is the kind with hormones) he said that any implantable BC is fine to leave intact. You may still want to ask your surgeon.

I already asked and they said it was fine to have it during surgery but I was wondering if anyone had any weird side effects or whatever...

I am due to have it put in shortly. My nurse seems to think there will not be any problems! I can't have the pill so short of an IUD this was my best option.

I had mine put in back in July and I read that you could have irregular bleeding, but that's really with any birth control, but I was on the Depo shot before and I really hadn't even had a period in a while. I had my band placed on September 11 and after I lost my first few pounds( about a week) I started. Full blown period, which I haven't had in years. I thought that was interesting. No other problems so far... the weirdest thing is being able to feel it under the skin...:girl_hug:

Hi Snowflake,

I've had a number of implanons over the years. Generally no side effects for the first two years. In the third year, however, I had constant spotting so I had it removed. My gyn thinks it is something to do with the effect not being quite as strong in the third year. I just get a new one put in. Other than that, all is good!

I love the implanon -- I never have periods! Ever!

:tongue2: :wink2:
