Hey all! I am getting banded in almost a month. I am a little nervous about wha tmy body will look like once the weight is gone. Primarily - I am worried about my arms! LOL! I know it seems trival with losing weight - but I would hate to lose this weight - FINALLY - and still have my arm jiggle. Has anyone noticed that their arms get smaller without needing plastic surgery? And if you have had plastic surgery - wpuld you recommend it?

I was banded over 2 years ago and my arms (well everything was HUGE)

I am now at goal and have been here for a bit. I have had a Tummy Tuck for the extra skin there, but nothing on my arms. I do workout a lot, and it made a difference. I will post a before and after for you to see.

I actually this week had someone ask me if I had surgery on them. Made me feel VERY good!

BEFORE (ugh, yack, gag..) NOW

I would say the key is to work out 4-5 days a week and drink TONS of water! It's all about toning while losing, and remember this is a lifestyle change and this should be your long term goal as well. Its somewhat genetic, but your young still and I think if you eat right while losing and weight train you'll be fine. Good Luck!

My God, Boo Kitty you look friggin fabulous. I love that you are the girl at the top of the page too... That is you isn't it.

Anyway, I am 45. Banded 11/07. Losing weight since 11/06 (VERY SLOWLY, BUT NOT INTENTIONALLY). I am still big, I have another 70ish to go, but no sagging yet, which isn't bad for 45. My face has few wrinkles, and has slimmed down a lot. The excessive Protein has let more inches come off even though I have not lost a lot.

If I could get a regular exercise routine going, and get back on track (to much chocolate and wine-but not together-yuke) I would be doing VERY good and I am confident my skin would be okay for an old girl like me.

I have lost some inches on my arms, but alas--I will need plastic surgery. At my age, 56--the resilency of my skin is not what it was. I would think that those aged 40 and under would have good luck with the right exercise. I am now a size 12, planning to get to an 8, so I am not that big anymore. I lift weights and do what I am supposed to do, but the extra skin is there and I've been told that PS is my only option.

(And while I'm under, I want a boob lift and enhancement!!!)

jbflorida,

How much have you lost, and how long did it take? Sorry to be nosey... Size 12 sounds fabulous....

You know, if I am able to get to a size 12 again and hold it, and my skin is sagging, I will not hesitate to get surgery. And bravo, might as well get a two-fer or three-fer while you are under....

JB do NOT do a lift without implants. Trust me, I am so sorry about it and now have to have ANOTHER surgery! DO implants! :lovechoc:

Wow what a difference in you. I am having the band on 9-17 and just read some post where it didn't work for them and they are having many problems with eating. How did you do it? I have 130 lbs to lose and I really want to be successful. How much did you lose and how long did it take you? Any advice for me presurgery? It's best to get it from someone who's been able to follow the plan and be successful.

Thanks,

Debbie

Molly--I started at 217 and had surgery on May 13, 2008. I have just had my 3rd fill and weighed in this AM at 161.5. I am retired and live in an active adult community, so I take advantage of exercise classes--often 2 a day! PS I like the picture of your puppies! PPS I am originally from MD (Balto and Ellicott City). Came to FL after 26 years in ATL, GA.

Brandy--did you need a lift at your young age? (AH, to be 31) I do NOT, repeat NOT want to be large chested! But I guess perky would be nice. What happens if you get a lift without implants?

Deb--I see that you are in Tampa. I live in Sun City Center, south of Brandon. Who is doing your surgery? I went to 7 seminars before I chose my doc (can you tell I am a former teacher who does lots of research??), so I may know yours. I would be happy to talk with you. I have had NO regrets!

Yes I did need a lift, I was a 34ff before surgery and breast fed 2 kids for 3+ years without a break. :lovechoc: Mine are not perky and I am sad. I am a 34d now. But not perky.

I went to the UCH seminar. Dr. Dietrick is doing mine. I went with

him because I work at Moffitt and so many employees there have had it done and have used him. I heard only good things. My surgery is 9-17 at 1 pm. I'm a little worried because I made the mistake of reading the threads from those who have not achieved good results and only hope that I don't have the problems keeping down foods that they do.

I'm really excited. I'm at 273 right now and want to get to 150.

What has your experience been like? I've strated walking a lot and swimming. I'm on the liquids right now but am allowed to eat one solid high Protein meal a day until the 17th. After that it's a week of only liquids and 1 week of mushies. I thought the liquid part would be harder because I've been eating whatever I wanted and this is such a change, but I guess getting that one solid meal a day is really helpful. It hasn't been that bad so far. Is there anything you've found that you can no longer eat after surgery as compared to before surgery? Any post surgical advice?

Deb--I went to Dr. Dietrick's seminar. I was impressed with him. The drive to where he was is horrendous for me!

I sent you a private email with my phone #. I will be happy to share with you all of the wonderful things about my journey!

PS The only thing I have trouble is chicken and fish that is DRY!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
