Hello from WV

Hello all, I am getting ready to go to the seminar and in hopes of changing my life for ever. I have already got pre-certified from my insurance so hopefully the next 6 mo. will go by quickly. I am very nervous but excited. I am looking for new friends and experiences so talk to me and I also would like to know other peoples receipes and do's and don'ts regarding diet after the surgery. Beck:wink_smile:

Ate to tell ya, beans ARE carbs. I would get refried beans when I know Im not getting enough protein and I was informed that beans are very high in carbs. As for Breakfast, I havent been able to eat breakfast in a LONG time. That is normal your stomach is "lazy" in the morning and it takes time for it to open up. 10 shredded wheats...carbs..It seems anything that goes down easy is carbs . I was eating cheerios every morning at one point and got chewed out because.....well I wont get into the conversation but he chewed me out saying that they are too many carbs and crab like that. He wants us to eat PLAIN oats in the morning not flavored or anything like that PLAIN, we can add some splenda but thats it. You would be suprised at all the carbs you eat in a day. When I thought of carbs, I would think of bread and stuff like that. There are carbs in EVERYTHING. lol..

Are you making sure you are chewing it until it is pretty much liquid? When mom was having these troubles, I told her that when she thinks she is done chewing, chew some more. That tends to help. I dunno, you may need to make an appointment and make sure you're not too tight or something like that.

wow I so did not realize everything I'm getting down is carbs.........shat hat shat this sucks and of course I am almost down making a 2lb bag of pintos that I had planned on living on the rest of the week

did they have a lot of carbs in them? Mom said they are a good source of protein though. Yeah, there are so many carbs are there its rediculous. That is what I find the hardest, eat good food but not carbs.

A trick I did to get some protein suppliments in was I would made sugar free pudding and put choc protein powder in it. I thought it would be gross, you cant even taste the protein powder in it. I even took some to school and let me friends have a little, they said they could not taste a difference at all.

I use the protein bullits to siplpement but I can't eat chicken or red meat....I HARE fish and have been eating snow crab legs twice a week at dinner thats the only thing I seem meat wise to be able to handle.....I really don't think I'm to tight.....I was reading the info from the hospital nurse and it says 2 ounces I thought I was suppose to be eating 4 ounces. I only had 3 months of nuytition and my 1st one quit ot got fired and the other one was kind enough to tell me at my 3rd visit she thought I was having gastric and knew nothing about lapband so I'm feeling a bit lost here now. I don't mind living on beans if it means I will loose....I know most say some version of Atkins but if I can't do meat that doesn't work to well for me and I can't afford crab legs every day......so confused

I just had my last visit with Lindsey today and now everything is going to go to the insurance. Lindsey told me that Blue Cross Federal are pretty quick about getting a response back to me. Has anyone gone through them before to give me a rough estimate on the time to get a reply?

The good news is since I had my first visit with Jeanie back in December that I had lost 25 pounds. The bad news is that the weight loss has been getting smaller with each visit.

Hi there I had Federal Blue Cross and it took about 2 weeks to hear from the ins. I got my letter before Jeannie did. so it won't be long. Good luck.smile.gif

You do tend to lose faster at the beginning of any diet. I think it is just the lifestyle change, I dunno... I have Blue Cross Blue shield and it took less then a week for me or I think it was right at a week, I dunno. lol, I dont know much tonight. Anyway, congrats and good luck. You will soon be one of us :)

I dont have much faith in the insurance...BCBS. In fact im beginning to hate them! My stuff was submitted on April 1 and still..........no letter......and its May 1. Im pissed!!!

I called BCBS last week and they said since they got new info in....(a letter signed by me stating I knew the risks) they had 14 days from then to make a decision...which pushes me to next Wednesday. I SWEAR they are trying to push me until I have to pay the $3K deductible again on June 1. I FREAKING hate insurance companies...such a scam.

I hate to be so pissy............but I am so fed up....I've been in this since September and still no band. Thank God im near the end...or I'd just give up. Im really near that point as it is.

So.......if ya'll hear of someone going postal at BCBS.....its probably me! (After all....I work only a block from them...) lol

Ok..so I emailed Jeannie freaking out...as I was in the post before. And she scheduled me with Dr. Kaplan. I feel 10x better. A little less freaked...I so do not want to go over my June 1 renewal on my insurance! Susan with Kaplans office said my surgery would be May 28 if all goes well. Keep your fingers crossed...............

And I have to say.......THANK YOU JEANNIE!!!!!!!! She is wonderful!

Just letting you all know that the next Support Group meeting is May 18th due to the holiday falling on the 4th Monday. She is also starting meetings on Thursdays following the monday we have the meetings. Same time, Same place, just different day of the week.

It was 2 weeks on the 6th since I seen Lindsey and still no word. Should I call the office or wait?

2 weeks since they turned the paperwork in? Umm, I think I would call the insurance company if it was me waiting. The insurance could probably tell you more then the office because well, we usually know we are approved before the office does.

I know I have a differant dr and all but I knew I'd been approved for almost 2 weeks when my drs office said they finally got their copy. It always seemed strange that the insurance doesn't sent notification out together. Good Luck....

My approval letter from BCBS was almost 6 weeks after being submitted! RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!

The good news............I do have a surgery date - May 29!!! :smile2::redface:

The bad news.......im now on the 2 week liquid diet and it is what I assume hell would be like. :crying: Im on day 4 now and according to my scales I've lost 4lbs! Yay!!!!
